My favorite part of February was absolutely the moment when I hugged my friend’s standoffish 13 year old goodbye and was worried they aren’t a hugger when they looked startled. When I apologized in case I had overstepped they responded with “No it’s okay! I just didn’t expect YOU to hug me, if I start crying they’re tears of joy because you’re SO cool. Bye!” and practically ran away. 😂

I found out recently that said standoffish 13 year old sees me as their cool aunt! This was discovered because I asked them to do something with me when they were on the phone with their friend and the practically shouted “I have to go, I’m gonna go do (insert activity here) with my cool aunt Echo!” and hung up on them without even waiting for a response. 😭 It absolutely made my day!
