while i'm not super into deku's high-tech suit, i don't understand why some people hate it & read it as horikoshi presenting that as a gift to deku as part of bakugo's atonement, i think the suit is so emblematic of bnha's overarching theme of community, i think it's nice for deku's journey to end with such a fitting parting gift lol <3
however, i think that other reading is still interesting because it made me think of bakugo and deku's friendship as adults in general. as bakugo says, a simple apology won't undo any of the harm he caused and while his actions show that his change & care are sincere, it may still be difficult for deku to parse the intention behind bakugo's words & actions at times
like no i don't think that suit has anything to with bakugo's atonement i don't think it serves him in an immediate way, however you can ofc tie it to bakugo's guilt & atonement, and readership aside, maybe that's sth deku does
maybe adult deku overthinks certain actions and bakugo either feels insulted ("i don't do nice things for you out of guilt or obligation i jus like you") or even ashamed ("am i really such a bad person that he questions the sincerity of my actions") like #much to feel here and much to explore
bakugo is very attentive and as a child, it was to deku's detriment because bakugo would #notice things about deku or the worls to pick apart, but as a changed adult it probably shows through considerateness like we witness that in 431 like that's so bakugo
*fujoshi goggles on* i think he does a lot for deku and sometimes that care catches deku off-guard, like why would he do that he's just #deku *fujoshi mode* i think he should casually bring it up like don't worry katsuki you don't "owe" me this and that and bakugo feels slightly upset like why would he ever do sth íf he didn't want to do it *boinks deku's head* bakugo isn't the best at being affectionate and deku makes it even harder they're both so silly
