The target audience of heroic adventure genre is not children who actually save the world in a literal sense, it's children who want a cathartic outlet for the struggles and injustice they face. And one of the most common types of injustice that many girls and children assumed to be girls are subjected to is forced feminization.

i think i will just never forgive reddit for the culture of the website as well as multiple top subreddits and countless other popular ones being either covertly or explicitly about mocking the marginalized and disenfranchised. you have subreddits like AITA where people write fanfiction about women and fat people and minorities being stereotypes and belligerent and in the wrong so the white cis hetero male OP can be patted on the back and everyone can have a defensible pretense for complaining about minorities and having their biases affirmed. and this shit will make the front page, every single day. it is exhausting & yes these things happen everywhere on the internet including tumblr. but I think no where else is it passed off under the guise of neutrality and community consensus like reddit. I could write an entire book about the structure and culture of reddit and the inescapable layer of homogenized bigotry it creates. but I digress.

every single time i bring up "eating disorders are mostly rooted in fatphobia" someone brings up binge eating disorder and. no. no that one is still definitely rooted in restrictive eating. the constant restriction is what spurs the binging. it's not the "eating too much" disorder it's the "eating a lot and feeling shame and then punishing yourself by restricting really heavily until your body gives in and has to binge again" disorder
