Remember Gasthof? Well, they needed to update their new look! They are known for their babky back ribs in Boracay, Philippines. Now they’re here in Manila! The meat just melts in your mouth!

This lockdown, Gasthof is under the same management, only funkier and hip! Gasthof wanted to retain the greens and yellows in their branding! it’s a revamp, and they opted to have a new look that they aim to be known for, which are... ribs!

22 grams Patisserie

Start up businesses like Dave inspires me to be more flexible in my design process. One day, Dave asked my perspective about his created logo using a free graphic design tool, however, he is not confident in his branding because it doesn’t feel original.. I helped Dave by understanding what he wants his brand to become. Sometimes we need to change our approach in designing, briefs can become too tacky and your client would just agree with you- which you do not like. Finally, Dave decided that his product is something personal, sophisticated, touched-by-Dave, just Dave-y. I am not a marketing person here, but I strongly believe that branding is just a part of the product design. In this collaboration, I asked Dave to send me his penmanships of 22s grams and bakery, later changed to patisserie. He wasn’t comfortable and confident at first but I encouraged him that the wonders of tweaking his strokes, adding weight and a little stretching did the magic, and voila!

So, I didn’t win in our office logo making competition... whoops! But here are my design studies. I think there’s not much “heart” into my designs, and for that matter, the designs didn’t make it. The winning logo has something to do with fire, innovation, and disruption for the greater good, forgot the slogan but it wasn’t as catchy. I just hope it represents the company at a glimpse, and able to identify its products. So yea.. Having designed these two years ago, we didn’t have much background as to what the company is leaning towards or focused to, no vision or mission presented, too vague as to there’s a variety of services being offered, so it was bit of a challenge. What do you think? :)
