I actually really love how the EN localization of the game translated “eggs” (used to describe NRC mages) as “fledglings.”

To me, it suggests that since fledglings are baby birds, the NRC students’ “eggs” were the coffins/gates that they hatched from 😭😭😭😭🐦‍⬛

Completely random but I immediately thought of the cuckoo, a brood parasite - who lays their eggs in the nests of completely different bird species. In most cases, it is extremely detrimental to the chicks of the host birds, since the cuckoo chick takes more food and is likely stronger than the others in the nest (such as with magpies), and often causing the death of nearly if not all the eggs/chicks in the nest.

However, with crows in particular, there are cases where the cuckoo parasite have actually be beneficial to the nest, which is an extremely unique case of the “parasitic” relationship being useful 🐦‍⬛ The cuckoo is able to provide protection for the baby crows, and since baby crows are just bigger, they’re far less likely to die. The crow chicks may even have a higher chance of survival BECAUSE of the parasitic cuckoo in the nest. All the chicks are able to be fed well since the crow chicks are just relatively the same size as the great spotted cuckoo in this photo. And interestingly enough, the eggs of the great spotted cuckoo species has evolved to resemble crow eggs.
