My dissertation is complete and will be submitted once I polish up my Appendices. I need to work on my ‘blog post submission’ but right now I am just exploring my meditative artmaking practice and making a journal specifically to document my explorations in meditative art.

This has been the best Sweet Chestnut season in the UK since i can remember. I am going to make so many things, nougat, and nougatine, sweet chestnut ice cream. But, right now, i’m reviewing Living Deeply, a beautiful and practical book about the pursuit of meaning in relation to the Self, and planning some possible personal academic explorations for the next year. 

Also Happy NaNo to everyone doing it! It’s my first year trying it. I want to support you all. :) <3

Just got my draft back, and am double checking my researcher reflexivity. I’ve been re-reading Sorokin’s “The Blizzard” to start feeling suitably wintery for the following season.

I’m having a slow day today, one of my elderly creative therapies clients passed away yesterday and it’s been a little emotional. I feel muted. Did some ‘archetype work’ by drawing and engaging with an abstract image that emerged spontaneously from consciousness.

But I went to work, and devised a time frame for my Integral Practice Schedule. Now i’m going to work on a plan for NaNoWrMo and a plan for the outlines of any personal essays/ academic explorations and research I want to do this year.

Just repotted some succulents into a terrarium, have gone through a final check of my dissertation against the mark scheme, sent off the draft, and configured what I will do for my spiritual modality in my new Integral practice schedule.

Starting a new Dream Journal, I use Jungian and Assagiolian psychology as a framework to guide Gestalt dream analysis. It is amazingly useful at uncovering subconscious and unacknowledged aspects of ones own psyche.

Hiatus and a New Introduction

Hi, guys, I took a rather long hiatus from tumblr. My dissertation year was intense, and involved primary research. I also struggled for a while with burnout from working full time whilst studying a master’s degree, and the emotional intensity of my topic, which was in regards to art-making as a means of recovering from bereavement, and included my personal bereavement experience as data. 

So at the moment, I am just finishing off my dissertation - but will be focusing on arts based psychological research, my own psychological explorations of Integral practice and psychosynthesis, and just Transpersonal art theory and my own investigations into the relationships between consciousness studies and the arts. 

It’s good to be back.

The first hermeneutic cycle of intuitive inquiry involves ‘clarifying the research topic’ through imaginal dialogues with texts and other intuitive practices.

We’ve settled on Intuitive inquiry as my research method. A way of grounding rigorous scientific research in compassion and allowing insights from depth psychological processing and non-ordinary ways of knowing to shape the process.

Bought myself a new sweater for the winter months. And getting deep into the differences in interviewing structures between phenomenology and grounded theory!
