OUR BIGGEST ENEMY
https://youtu.be/5Kq_ocQavgk
I hear Christians often say how the devil is coming at them, tricking them, making them fall into sin and such. The reality of the issue is that the devil and his demons are not our BIGGEST enemy. What they attempt to do is work on OUR BIGGEST ENEMY and that enemy is ourselves.
The devil cannot do anything if our mind is set on serving Jesus Christ, if we are dead to ourselves and if we are denying ourselves every day. The devil never comes alone, he comes with a temptation and temptation is always centered on ourselves, on us pleasing our flesh and the lust of our flesh.
When the devil came to Eve, he had a plan and that plan is to make her eat that FRUIT. This fruit became DESIRABLE to her eyes. Here is the place where she fell, it is when she looked at the fruit and wanted it to please her own flesh. If Eve's focus was on the Lord, if she didn't want to please her OWN SELF, then she would have been wise to see the devil coming at her with his craftiness.
When the devil tempted David to count his men, the desirable object of his flesh was pride. It was not something he could see but it was still SELF, self-centeredness. David fell to that trick of self again, to satisfy himself.
David's encounter with Bathsheba was also the same, his aim was to gratify HIMSELF. The devil wasn't there, David was enticed by his own flesh when he saw her bathing on the roof.
We are so quick to shift the blame on the devil, on other people but the TRUE enemy is always self. We need to recenter our lives around Jesus Christ. When Jesus Christ becomes our center, when He becomes our life and not something that revolves around us, THEN we will be wise enough to resist the devil.
Jesus said: "Whoever wishes to follow ME, let him DENY HIMSELF".
Yet it is the hardest thing to do, to deny the man in the mirror. This is where the TRUE AND REAL BATTLE is. It is what made man fall from the beginning, he wanted to define what is good and evil, he wanted to be God, all to serve self.
Dear brothers and sisters, this is what I want to ask today:
- Is your life centered around you or around JESUS CHRIST?
- Is Jesus Christ your FIRST PRIORITY?
- Is SERVING Jesus on your mind constantly?
OR
- Are you still the center of your life?
- Are you shifting the blame on others because you don't want to blame yourself?
- Are you still looking to satisfy your own flesh and selfish ambitions?
Who will you serve, GOD or yourself?
Please share with those you care for. Eternity is awaiting.
May God bless and keep you
