Y’know, usually, one expects there to be a sort of exception to some rules. But, despite me having been awake all fuckin’ night, as morning is coming in with it’s unwanted face, I realize I am still not a morning person. I guess I just don’t like how the sun looks at me through the window when I didn’t ask to be blinded against my will.

Curious Affairs | Ethan & Connor

Ever since Ethan had mentioned his last name as well as the name of his father, something had been niggling at the back of Connor’s brain. Back when he was younger, and Alice Stage had still been in his life, he’d only heard the name of his supposed father once or twice; though she’d admitted at some point, drunk off her arse, that she wasn’t sure that man even was the father. Connor hadn’t been much surprised at that. Still, the name had stuck, as if some part of him had latched onto the foolish hope that one day he’d come across that man and ask him why he never bothered to come back. Childish hope, childish desire, mostly. Connor knew very well his father probably had no idea of his existence and they had no bond except for a shared last name.

Luke and Hayden Bishop. 

Seeing as Connor hadn’t even been sure if Bishop even was the name of his actual father, he’d never even bothered trying to look him up. That was, until that name fell from Ethan’s lips and his suspicion had been roused; part of him was still curious. 

It was one of the main reasons he’d gone and accepted to work with Ethan, whom he hardly even knew, except for his work and proclivity for blades. He’d talked about it to Spencer, asked the other man to do his own digging but to otherwise not intervene until Connor had certainty. Besides, the more jobs he did, the more practise he’d get at gaining back some of the control he’d lost. It had been an easy decision to make - just a simple hit and run shouldn’t be too much of a challenge. He’d been doing this for years, the motions should come as clockwork and everything else would simply be a new kind of lesson.

He showed up at the destined time and place on the dot, lighting up a cigarette while he waited for the other to arrive.

    Ethan had a certain sort of buzz about him when he and Connor were planning their hit. He was usually the sort of person to work alone, and Connor seemed like the same type, but the two of them together? Ethan saw great things happening. Besides, it was nice to know someone he didn't have to hide his true self from. Not that he pretended to be anyone else, by all means, but he had to put on a somewhat normal front when around civilians. He didn't need anyone getting suspicious of him and tipping off the cops.

    One thing he never expected was to find someone he legitimately got along with. Ethan could fake friendship with the best of them, but truly feeling connected to another person? It didn't seem possible with his personality type, but he here was. Actually excited to see another person. Of course Ethan had been excited to see Hal, and he felt a connection to Hal of some sort, but what he was feeling with Connor was something completely different.

    When Ethan arrived at the agreed place, he saw Connor there and smiled. "Trying to leave evidence behind?" he asked, gesturing to the cigarette in his hand. They were far enough away from their actually destination that it wouldn't be noticed, but still. Ethan couldn't help but to tease him.

    All Ethan had with him was a small duffle bag which held the tools he needed, well wanted, in order to get this hit done. It was complicated by any means. The wife was sick of her husband and wanted him gone, it was cookie cutter in the world of assassins. And good news for Ethan, and Connor, because they always paid ridiculously too much.

His grin widened as Ethan’s hand crept up his thigh. “Someone’s impatient,” he whispered in the man’s ear, eyeing the hand going further up this thigh. He could feel the small tingles of arousal "Oh I will?” he moved himself back to get a proper look at Ethan, arching a brow. “Are you being generous or just greedy?”

"Wouldn’t want to have it all over before it started yeah?" With that Hal moved away from Ethan, putting a considerable distance between them. "No touching till main course it over," he winked.

    "Maybe its a bit of both," Ethan said with a smirk, eyes meeting Hal's. Its been a while since Ethan has been in this kind of situation. Its not that he hasn't had opportunity, cause he has, its just that no one has really piqued his interest until now.

    "You really are a cruel man." he said, as the cab came to a stop. He paid the cabbie and opened the door, getting out and keeping the door open so Hal could exit. "I hope you like American." he said as he opened the door to the restaurant. "Apparently this place has the best hamburgers. I've never been before, though. So if it ends up sucking, you can't blame me. I'm took references from others."

Co-owner, but basically, yes. Thank you very much! I’ve tried to do my best to keep everyone entertained and as far as I know, I’ve succeeded. So, are you going to buy me a drink, or am I expected to do that, since you paid for me and all?

   You should certainly do these little shindigs more often. I haven't been to a party like this in...years, really. Its hard to find a good place to let loose.

     I mean, I think its fair if I buy the drink, seeing as I'm the one who's supposed to be taking you on a date. What's your poison, gorgeous?

They did some nice refurbishment to the club, I’ll give them that. Can’t help but remember the last time I came to a party at this place, someone got shot and some dresses got set on fire; we do live in such barbaric times nowadays. Can’t go anywhere without someone coming in guns blazing.

Still, perhaps Meg Todd’ll be better at keeping the peace than Ries. Though she won’t have gotten it from her brother, the most esteemed commissioner. He can’t keep the peace in London for shite. Well, what’s a bit of fun without a little bang, right?
