The name I am using here is Lucien. I am often some type of incorporeal/ghost-like entity. At other times, I may be a deer or an angel. They are not mutually exclusive.

I am autistic and have other diagnoses not listed here. I may bring them up if relevant to a specific conversation.

jud duplenticy writes some fantastic lines in his account of the murder like "The darkness of that story was the bedrock of this place" or "Testing tolerances, tapping deep poisoned wells, hardening, binding with complicity" or "Because in the part of my soul that cannot lie to Christ, or myself, or you…" but he did also write "Young, dumb, and full of Christ" which doesn't necessarily undermine his skill as a storyteller or anything but what an insane thing that is to say to benoit at this point in the story

I'm salivating at the juxtaposition of Grace being taunted by a cheap figurine of Jesus in the faberge case used to house the diamond that her father bought to damn her, and Jud making a carving of Jesus, making with his own hands, not buying, to house the diamond in a church named after her, both taunting her grandson with it and almost making her the saint of the newly reborn parish.

The thing i really liked about wake up, dead man is how the murders feel so justified for a moment. Martha gets her revenge and kills two evil men. Despite her drive being selfish and misguided, you cant help but think "well the world is better off without them soo." Until you remember Samson. Who didn't believe in the church but loved Wicks and Martha. A good man stricken down by the greed of other people. The movie does a good job at saying "yeah, bad people are killed, but look at the cost." Just enough to make you realize its not supposed to be cathartic at all. It could have been avoided with a little grace

I think it's really beautiful in Wake Up Dead Man how Jud did change Blanc's worldview but didn't convert him. He led him to focus on empathy and compassion and move away from his previous ways of ending cases. For Jud, these qualities are intrinsically linked with his faith, but Blanc just saw Jud striving to connect with those around him and make their lives better and was profoundly impacted by this in his own way

"I confessed, to the wrong priest" is my favorite line in Wake Up Dead Man, because it's so subtle and yet so kind. Martha has been so dismissive of Jud the whole movie. Not outright mean, of course, but she clearly saw him as a tenant who sometimes gave her a hand rather than a priest, and put him down when he seemed to overstep by acting like one. The line is an admission that not only Jud is a priest, he's a priest who does share the beliefs she's built herself over for decades. Even disillusioned by Wicks's self-serving hypocrisy, he still allows her to see her faith as a moral pillar. It's saying "I should have trusted you, and if I had, maybe none of this would have happened".

It's the "because you are a good nurse" of the movie.

i think a really funny project that a statistics professor could have their class do is like. put a bunch of random, patently untrue demographic statements into a hat. "the most popular tv show among white men ages 24-27 is Bluey." "the majority of business majors are middle children." "bisexual women love hot chips." and each student picks one out of the hat and you gotta like. design a whole study and survey a group of people to specifically achieve that result. you have to prove it true. by whatever means necessary. you have to construct the most biased study possible and wrangle in your exact demographic to make that statement a statistical reality. i think people would learn a lot.

Once you start thinking about humans as a species in a biome, it affects your entire way of looking at normal things.

The other day I referred to female morning joggers as an 'indicator species' in that if you see women jogging in the dark it means that the environment provides migration pathways (sidewalks, clear signs) and doesn't have any known predators of female morning joggers (guy with knife, bear, BigTruck, male morning joggers).

Though, I think that people consider framing humans as animals reacting to their environment as rude.

i think in the end furries will always win. in whatever time it takes i think people are going to realize anthropomorphism is so deeply ingrained in us as creatures that to even invent a hatred of the concept to begin with is like hating the concept of telling stories or singing or dancing
