🥀The house of the Maitlands, the original protagonists of the 1988 film Beetlejuice, is a Victorian-style house located on top of a hill in the fictional town of Winter River, Vermont.🥀

🥀This house is the nerve center of the first film, as the new tenants renovate the house in a postmodern style, making it difficult to live with the ghostly spouses. From there, Beetlejuice is called upon to exorcise the new tenants, who eventually bond with the protagonists, and the house remains in the Deetz family until the end of the second film, where, after being christened the "ghost house," it is resold by the adult Lydia to create a new life with Astrid.🥀

🥀The structure we see in the films is only a facade; the interiors of the house were shot in a studio. The house's unique style makes it instantly unique, with Gothic and Victorian influences reminiscent of Hitchcock's gloomy mansions.🥀

🥀The exteriors, like the interiors, change in both films. Production designer Bo Welch created the house's beautiful, contrasting styles in the first film, where it transitions from a rural style to a modern one. In the second film, the house is entirely covered in a black veil, a sign of mourning and transition, desired by Delia Deetz's creative eccentricity.🥀
