Logan Marshall-Green as Pete Calvin Marshals - Family Business (1.07)
Prepare for take off! This short story anthology will contain science fiction, dark content, and lots of whumperflies. Authors will be answe
Heee! My original story is going to be in this anthology, you guys!
You like my stories? You like me hurting them fictional characters? I get it that you like those characters first, as I play in various sandboxes, smashing dolls created by someone else. But hey, I can make them dolls too!
The story is Ananke, and my pen-name is T. Lane. And if you back Cosmic Consequences anthology, by @thewhumpyprintingpress, you will not only get that story, of about 17k words, you will get a lot more whump... in space!
Take a look at what the anthology has to offer. Maybe you will like it?
Or, just reblog this post, to help spread the word.
Sheeeeesh, my stupid brain! (I mean my great brain, lol)
I'm writing the plot for the Marshals fanfic. I'm 2k words in, ideas keep flooding in, I even have a decent idea for Miles's storyline in this fic and for a great confrontation with Cal.
It's Cal-centric, of course, with CalBelle being all married couple (except they're not, of course), arguing and worrying about each other. But I'm planning to give Andrea and Kayce something important to do as well, while they fall in love a little bit.. And—that's a first for me—I'll try my creative muscles at some female whump with Andrea, and see if it has any sparks..
Plus, it's actually a case-fic, so... expect action too, lol.
Holy crap. Will two people read this fic? Probably. :) I have truly found joy in writing for ME, though, so, if anyone shares this? it will only be a bonus. :D
Oh, boy...
After the whole day of outlining this story (2157 words in the text file, plus the spreadsheet), I came to realize it should be about 30k, if I want to give it justice.
I have clear ideas for the half of it. And some vague (but exciting) moments for the second half. Here's hoping it will all come to me and that I don't lose enthusiasm...
i am massively overdue for a very very good week where not a single bad thing happens and everything is easy
reblog to give prev a very good week where not a single bad thing happens and everything is easy

Hi, if you want to scream about Marshals this is your chance :) I’m thinking of watching it but haven’t seen Yellowstone. Is it worth it? What do you like most about it?
I haven't seen Yellowstone either. ¯\_ (ツ)_/¯ And, um, I'm not really curious about it after watching Marshals? I think this show stands pretty well on its own.
What I like? Well, you know me... ;) I like that they started with a character who was "secretly popping pills" in the first episode and then they delivered. Unlike a certain show that had a character with "devastating back injury" in their promo materials and then I had to wait almost two whole seasons to see that character show any kind of consequences of said injury. I mean. I know that drug addiction is a consequence too. Just. It wasn't the kind I was thinking about, partially because that particular problem is, imo, overdone in nowadays tv (btw, initially I thought that was also a direction Marshals were going with the "pill popping". Spoiler--it's not.)
Also, doesn't hurt that Arielle Kebbel is gorgeous, and Logan Marshall-Green kills me with his angst-face every other scene. And they make gooey eyes at each other and innuendos and at one point they even... but that would be a spoilery spoiler, so i'll shut up.
Oh, and there is an actual whumpy episode, with actual whump like whoa! (I mean, take a look at this gifset, if you don't mind semi-spoilers) So. I'm a happy camper. :D
If you watch it, let me know. ;p
Everybody is awful quiet about that Marshals season finale.
I really liked it. The longing looks Andrea threw towards Kayce. That once Kayce finds out the truth about Dolly’s dad, Dolly will be out of the picture for good.
Belle & Cal are definitely going to break work boundaries in Utah. Maddie extending an olive branch to Cal.
Miles is on desk duty so he’s making progress towards full reinstatement.
I knew Kayce wouldn’t leave where Monica is.
I liked the season finale.
l’etendue des montaignes [Marshals fic, Cal-centric, h/c]
Fandom: Marshals (TV 2026) Rating: General Audiences Characters: Pete ‘Cal’ Calvin, Belle Skinner, Kayce Dutton, Andrea Cruz Relationships: Pete ‘Cal’ Calvin/Belle Skinner, Pete ‘Cal’ Calvin & Team Additional Tags: Angst, Hurt/Comfort, Cancer, canon character with cancer, friendship fic, with a hint of romance, Episode 1x12 rewrite
Summary:
They probably knew, anyways, or at least suspected something. Coyo had said as much when they’d been huddled in that cabin on the mountain. ‘The guy secretly popping pills,’ he’d called him. Fuck. And Belle had asked him if he was fine, several times. What was he going to tell them? He had no way to explain what was going on with him.
Cal’s PoV of episode 1x12, with added caveat that he’s already started his treatment. And Cal/Belle conversation at the end.
A/N: So. I’m dipping my toes in another fandom. We’ll see how that goes, yes? I’m not good at writing romance, but I’m willing to step out of my comfort zone (hurt/no comfort, lol) for Cal and Belle.
Logan Marshall-Green as Pete Calvin Marshals - Blowback (1.08)
Vulture: We’ve seen a few glimpses of Langdon’s life outside the hospital. We know he has a wife and kids and a new dog. How did you fill in the backstory of how he ended up here? Patrick: He’s a young dad, got two kids, and I think both at home and work, he doesn’t have time to process what he’s feeling. He’s got to do the next right thing for the other person — whether that’s a patient or a 2-year-old or my wife who’s stuck at home dealing with the 2-year-old while he’s off doing his dream job. He’s someone who’s trying to figure out how to be who people need him to be. There’s a certain amount of ego to that and a certain amount of pride, but also an incredible amount of responsibility. I have to be excellent because if I am not excellent, people die.

It’s all Robby’s fault, isn’t it?

I’ll start with a rant. Or rather with a callback to a rant I wrote almost a year ago about Jensen Ackles’s show “Countdown”. For those of you who haven’t watched (or heard about it), it was an action show. Obvs., since those are usually what I watch (and expect them to tackle the themes of disability and chronic illness with sincerity and care. oh, well..) So, in Countdown, Ackles’s character was given a brain cancer pretty early on. Can’t really remember if it was the first episode, or, like, the fourth episode? (out of, like, twelve, or ten, idek)
It was a glioblastoma. One of the fastest spreading and deadliest cancers there are. And, whatdoyoukno? Toward the end of the season the MC had some experimental treatment, survived it and got all better! YEY, right?
At least the show got cancelled *sigh*
Some peoples were surprised that it made me upset, but whatever.
Compare it with Marshals (a Yellowstone story). *Spoilers up to 1x11 ahead*
Throughout the season we see hints that something’s up with the US Marshal team leader, Pete “Cal” Calvin. At first—I want to say it—at first I thought it was going to be another character with a drug addiction problem (it *is* a very popular ‘chronic problem’ fictional characters deal with. I agree that The Pitt did it better, but it’s not a rare representation at all).
As you may guess, Cal wasn’t popping pills because of addiction, though. They give more hints and breadcrumbs around the midseason, but nothing concrete. Until, finally, in one of the final scenes of the penultimate episode, the actual diagnosis is revealed.
Similarly as in Countdown, it’s a specific diagnosis, not something vague. Cal’s prognosis isn’t great either, but at least this disease has ‘five years survival rate’, contrary to glioblastoma, that only has ‘typical duration of survival’. In months. This choice is, IMO, much better thought out.
I’m unsure about them revealing it toward the end of the season. Typically I would expect them to do the treatment over the hiatus and have Cal come back all cured, maybe have some small-ish after-effects for an episode or four and then forget all about it. That’s the ‘normal’ of tv-land. (btw, it reminds me about semi-rant I want to write about Will Trent and a similar storyline. maybe i'll write it, maybe i won't)
But then.. Then I saw this article on TvLine. And this quote from Logan Marshall-Green, Cal’s actor:
"Cancer is too important a topic to dance around," he says. "It affects literally everyone, and I hope we get a chance to really break [Cal] down the way cancer breaks down humans. It doesn't matter whether you fought for the country or not, it doesn't matter what you do, this thing is not biased. So I hope Cal is put through the wringer with this, because that's the story that needs to be told. Don't get me wrong, there have been great advancements in technology, and I think those are also worthy of the story when it comes to cancer, but from what I know, even with those advancements, there's still a lot of pain."
And I’m. Gobsmacked.
Is this what Season Two of Marshals has in store for me?
If it is, I’m sat. I’m thinking, maybe I should try and write some fic for this show, because damn, it deserves. But what if I make myself too invested *again*, what if I’ll go nuts about the show’s first season, like I always do, only to be disappointed by season two? As I always am... (sorry, The Pitt fam)
Ehhhhh. Meanwhile, this season of Marshals isn’t over yet. I guess I’ll see what happens in the finale, right?
