secretly I think we as a society crave media that doesn't break rules but entirely doesn't abide by them. Minecraft media is just an entirely new medium of storytelling, that doesn't require realism. I think maybe the dream smp was so popular because it created an entirely new way to tell a story, that didn't follow convention. I don't want to hear about highschool dramas anymore, I want real creativity with people being stupid and having fun. I want people. similarly with zines! this is a medium that has no rules. It can be any shape, size, quality, anything. It creates new opportunities for connection and reality
