@evertiger
so I have enough pack points to get a card but I can't decide which. The mega rising pack super cool art mega absol ex (280) or shiny incineroar ex (318). Help I can't decide because I want both but I only have enough to get one of the two....
if you dont mind, can you explain how you clean your models or what your process is? i have some models that have scuffs on them, but im hesitant to use anything too harsh and i dont want to scrub too hard. i know that some scuffs and discolorations may be permanent, but i want try to clean them up as best as i can.
So unfortunately, I'm not sure I'm the best person to ask. I tried to clean one of my models' scuffs before, and I ended up taking off some of his paint. I'm afraid to use anything more substantial than soap now.
That's honestly all I do at this point, just wash with soap/water.
Does anyone out there have any resources or tips for anon? On cleaning models?
My only experience is with Breyer horses, so I don't know how applicable this is to anything else.
Just want to give them a general cleaning? Use Dawn soap. Try to avoid submerging them completely. Nearly all models have an air hole somewhere and it's a massive pain to get the water completely out. Use cotton swabs to get into those little detail areas like manes and ears. Use soft towels like microfiber cloths to dry.
You can use magic erasers to get scuffs out. If the scuff is on white, you should have no problems. If it's on any part of the model that is colored, go slow and gentle, stopping frequently to check the condition of the paint. Understand that you always run the risk of taking the paint off. I've done this a few times, and haven't had that happen, but it is absolutely a possibility. I feel like it's damaged either way and I'd rather have the scuff gone.
Have yellowing? You have a few options. Simplest and slowest is just to leave them in the sun. This will take forever. You will have to rotate them every few weeks. But it is the safest. You can also submerge them in chlorine, but you want it extremely diluted. Think pool water.
Good luck! Maybe someone else can add advice for other types of models.
Thank you for the tips!
so one thing with scuffs is at 2012 Breyerfest in the hobby booth they handed out various flyers for how to do a few doctoring things on model horses, one of which was straightening bent legs one way is gently warming up the leg with a hair dryer and then gently moving the leg back into place (obviously be careful as the leg shouldn't be super hot but it should be hot enough to get the leg movable) and the other is boiling water and sticking the model's leg in it (be even more careful with this, don't touch the model to the pot, careful when touching the leg) both could potentially need multiple rounds to get a leg fully straight.
In addition, be very careful with both this next method and the magic eraser method on light dapple grey models as from what I've heard these can be hard on the paint breyer uses on those models. If you don't have a magic eraser laying around but you do have acetone nail polish remover you can use that but ONLY on white parts. While iirc the flyer said to use a cotton ball, I personally would recommend a q-tip/cotton swab as there's a bit more control there, less chance of getting it on a spot you don't want it to be on. Obviously use paper towel a) if it starts dribbling into a place you don't want to b) as soon as you're finished getting the spot you're using it on.
As long as whatever you use to wash your models is gentle you should be good. If you don't want to submerge even just the body of your model you could use a soft wet cloth to wash them. Use warm water, be very careful if you use bleach, I've heard of it damaging models if it's on it for too long. Also make sure you carefully check the seams for seams splitage before you submerge any part of the model in water.
There's more I've been told over the years but I'd need to look it up.

had to select the bay varnish roan one. Anything with a bay varnish roan blanket, no blanket a+ horse color. Knew a horse with that coat and honestly, one of the most challenging horses I've ridden, but in a good way. This votes for you Karl.
"I already have too many collections, I'm not gonna start collecting horses" is a sentiment I see very often in my notes. And of course you don't need to collect horses at all! But I think you should get one horse because it would look really cute on your shelf. Imagine how you'd smile every time you look at it. You could even give it a name! But of course a horse can't be alone, horses need companions. You should get one more horse to keep it company. They look sooo cute on your shelf together. But hmm, you can only look at them when you're near that shelf, and you definitely can't split them up because they're friends. And there is a free space on that window sill over there. Actually there's enough space that you could have a whole little herd of horsey friends...
and then there's me with like at least 200 breyers in my storage unit because I don't have enough space in my house and no plans on stopping because my biggest regret is not getting that glossy black dark horse surprise from 2018 Breyerfest back when it was released because it is my grail and if it comes up now I'd have no doubt it'd be in the 4 digits and I don't want that happening again lol
May I recommend...
