To all the parents out there who bundle their babies up in the winter time with those little hats with the little ears that make them look like little teddy bears: You are doing the lord’s work. Seeing tiny ewoks toddle across the grocery store parking lot is just what we all need sometimes. My joy is immeasurable and my day is restored.

A lot of people around me are having kids and every day it becomes more apparent that hitting your children to punish them is insane because literally everything can be a horrible punishment in their eyes if you frame it as such.

Like, one family makes their toddler sit on the stairs for three minutes when he hits his brother or whatever. The stairs are well lit and he can see his family the whole time, he’s just not allowed to get up and leave the stairs or the timer starts over. He fucking hates it just because it’s framed as a punishment.

Another family use a baseball cap. It’s just a plain blue cap with nothing on it. When their toddler needs discipline he gets a timeout on a chair and has to put the cap on. When they’re out and about he just has to wear the cap but it gets the same reaction. Nobody around them can tell he’s being punished because it’s in no way an embarrassing cap, but HE knows and just the threat of having to wear it is enough.

And there isn’t the same contempt afterwards I’ve seen with kids whose parents hit them. One time the kid swung a stick at my dog, his mother immediately made him sit on the stairs, he screamed but stayed put, then he came over to my dog and gently said “Sorry Ellie” and went back to playing like nothing happened, but this time without swinging sticks at the nearby animals.

The psych nerds found out ages ago that punishments that make the child think for a few minutes (about one minute or year of age until they're tweens) is much more helpful to develope social intelligence and understanding than punishments which prevents thinking, like the ones that involve pain. In fact, corporal punishment encouraged lying, extreme reactions, violent outbursts, go figure, they don't trust you.

Ok but guys, in all seriousness, this is exactly why you should get the HPV vaccine. We have a vaccine that literally protects you from getting throat cancer from eating pussy, and yet there are supposedly straight men walking around without it. And STILL, because HPV is most well known for causing cervical cancer, the HPV vaccine is mostly recommended to people with cervixes. HPV can cause throat, vulvar, rectal, cervical, and other cancers. Not just throat and cervical cancer. PLEASE get your HPV vaccines regardless of your sex, gender, orientation, etc etc etc. Go to your doctor or local health department!!

every time someone makes a post about how you need to accept people who are weird some genius in the reblogs is always like "ooohhhh well what about the BAD kind of weird should we embrace those Phreaques (tm) with open arms too?" personally i think that if someone's behavior is truly bad then you should be able to come up with a reason for why you think that other than "it's weird." things like abuse and bigotry are not bad because they're "weird," they are bad because they harm and dehumanize other people. in fact, many of these things are systematically enabled as a feature of status quo and not a bug. it is almost like "normal" does not equate to morally correct and adhering to standards of normalcy shouldn't be treated as the metric by which you determine someone's value as a person and that is what people are getting at when they say you need to accept weirdos and not that you have to passively condone everything outside of your moral compass even at its worse and the very fact you are quick to believe the latter is actually what's being implied instead should warrant serious self reflection in terms of how you look at people you believe aren't "normal." or something

you will never know. you can never tell. sometimes even the people doing these things won't have an answer. is it a sex thing? is it kink? who fucking knows! there is no line! public expressions of sexuality aren't immoral to begin with, but if you make any attempt to suppress them, you have to decide what is and isn't allowed, and you are going to get it wrong. there is no way to untangle kink from personality and hobbies and interests. kink does not even necessarily involve sex. sometimes it's just self-expression and vulnerability and sharing a particular dynamic with another person. sounds a lot like (checks notes) literally every other human experience that exists.

i'll say it again: the person wearing a leash in your vicinity is not sexually assaulting you. they're just wearing a leash.
