• I am diagnosed autistic, my current hyperfixations are pet mouse care(3years) ethical dog breeding(2years) and dog art roleplay(darpg, 2 years)

Before I was diagnosed with asd I often referred to myself as a badly socialized dog. I related to the dogs in the shelter who were failed from the start, be it because of bad genetics, no exposure to sounds and textures and dogs and people early in life, or living in a small kennel with dozens of other dogs barking and whining and howling around you 24/7.

I am going to anthropomorphize here.

I have a shelter dog myself who, similarly to me, doesn't understand body language, avoids certain textures and eye contact, and is generally a very awkward dog around everyone. It's like she is constantly asking for permission to do things, worried she might be bothering someone by just existing.

I felt the same. I tried to be as small and out of the way as possible, and I felt like just my presence was annoying to the people around me. And it probably was, because I am weird and awkward, and uncomfortable with almost everyone, and constantly worried about what others might think of me. Even though I don't want to have anything to do with them I still worry about their opinion, and it's stupid.

I am not saying autistic people are like dogs, I am not saying dogs are like autistic people, or that autism exists in dogs because to be completely honest I didn't research that but dehumanizing neurodivergent people is incredibly common in my country and I constantly feel less than just because I am different.

This is not a thought out post at all I was just thinking about how I looked at myself before vs after diagnosis.

artists can price their shit however they damn well please. if you cant buy a mask and groceries, then while that sucks, that's not the artist's problem.

Art takes time, effort, and materials to make. Good fur and paint is expensive as hell. Realistic masks take hours to make and require skill. If you dont want to pay the price, the materials arent that difficult to get. make one yourself so you can realize that this shit doesnt just spawn in your lap. i cant afford most masks, so yknow what i'm doing instead of whining about prices? MAKING MY OWN.

Artists aren't just product machines, they're individuals with mouths to feed and things to do other than make you shit just so that they can underprice it and not be able to buy groceries for themselves. this isnt temu.
