The Champ is Home: Aspertia Cityâs Own Makes a Triumphant Return! The cover story for todayâs paper says.
city that never sleeps;
redendaryâ:
Meiâs curiosity has peaked as soon as she saw the trainer and his Pikachu. Something about their relationship made her think about that of an overly-hyper little boy with his annoyed older brother. Kind of makes her think about her Sawsbuck and Serperior, acting like children as she has to force both of them to be civil with one another.
She began to chuckle at the thought before hearing the Pikachuâs noises from his trainerâs shoulder.
âRemind me what soccer is?â
He⊠he doesnât know what soccer is? She blinks while holding a quizzical look on her face. âAre you not from around Unova?â She asks as they reach the entrance of the soccer stadium. I should have guessed it earlier, especially with Pikachu.
She snapped her finger, an imaginary light bulb popping from her head. âYou must be from Kanto, right? I heard Pikachusâ being native in that region, yes? Oh, and I canât remember whether or not I mentioned my name, but Iâm Mei, former Champion of Unova.â She holds her hand out towards him with a warm grin placed on her lips.
city that never sleeps;
redendaryâ:
Nimbasa Cityâs attractions could never not be so enticing, for an electric-type. Bright radiance around every corner, the hum of electricity that vibrates inside the body, making the bones giddy and restless.
That was how it was for Pikachuâfor Redâs Pikachu, a danger to hold in his arms (the hairs on them having sat down in ages), but it was all that was going to stop him from scampering off, from trying to climb the highest building.
For a fifth time.
city that never sleeps;
Living within the vastly growing city of Nimbasa always took some getting used to, especially for those not use to all the hustle and busyness of the local attractions that defines Nimbasa City as The City That Never Sleeps. The newly appointed Champion of Unova knows the concept about this idea all too well, seeing as she herself frequently visits Nimbasa.

If Ingo didnât know any better, he would say that he was beginning to get the hang of this. Not the entire of of baking, exactly, but moreso how it felt to do so, learning from each mistake how to better handle himself, and the ingredients involved. He really should make a point to so this more often at home, he ponders. Nothing would be wasted, should it not work out; a handful of his own Pokemon there would surely be eager taste testers.

âNow greasing⊠I can do. Besides, itâd be much harder to come back from a botched mixing job, so Iâll leave that part to the experts.â
Now, Mei was not doubting the skills of her elder companion, oh no! In fact, it was the complete opposite. She wanted Ingo to let himself go when it comes to his baking skills or anything remotely like that. But, from what she could see, he seems to be motivated to get everything right. She started to chuckle, walking over to pick one of the best electric mixers and brings it over to her station.
She connects the attachments to the mixer and plugs it into an outlet. âOk, Iâm laying my confidence in your greasing abilities, so our cake wonât stick to the pan!â She exclaims happily as she places the mixer into the bowl with the uncombined batter, turning on the mixing speed to low. âI canât wait to see the faces of the PokĂ©mon when they all get a piece of our creation!â She was satisfied that this whole baking process has turned out to be a ball full of fun and payoff.
UntilâŠ
Meiâs finger grazed the dial for the mixing speed, and it pushed it all the way to the high speed. The experienced baker wasnât prepared for the sudden change in speed, and the batter flew all throughout her station.
âUh ohâŠâ

âOh yes! Two of them!â Ingo answers rather excitedly when he is joined again by his coach for the day. And of course she worries after insisting that he help, but heâs determined now to assist her, and stressed? That was hardly an emotion he was familiar with.
He just waves a finger before beginning to pluck his very gloves off, too, finger by finger, âOh, no, not at all. Would you know just how hard it is to handle just a few eggs with these things on? I sure didnât!â

Mei does tend to overreact with the smallest of things that shouldnât be stressed over. She is also extremely bad at reading other too, and Ingo wouldnât be an exception. She has always had troubles reading out the feelings of the twins for years now, and now would not be any different of a moment. âI hope he isnât frustrated by the task I gave him,â would be the thought swimming around in her head when she saw the elder start to struggle.
But, it turned out to be the exact opposite of what she feared.
He was actually laughing at his mistakes and went back to the fridge to grab two more eggs that the recipe called for. His gloves even came off! Mei was quite happy that he didnât give up or didnât seem anywhere close to throwing in the towel, which is what she liked to see! Itâs like his previous âaccidentsâ had never occurred in the kitchen.
So, Mei⊠what comes next, hm?â
The younger quickly snapped herself back to reality and rushed to look back to her phone to figure out the next steps. âU-Umm, letâs see hereâŠâ She fumbled with the phone in her hand scrolled down to the correct part of the recipe. âWe need to⊠we need to preheat the oven to 350°. Then you can either grease up the bottom of a cake pan for the mixture or mix the eggs, sugar, and oil together with the electric mixer. Both jobs seem kind of tough, but which do you want to tackle?â

fallen leaves;
acedtxtâ:
âAwww, câmon!â
Kouskes voice fell loudly over the quiet nature scene, as yet another Unovian Pokemon scampered away. Pinching the bridge of his nose, he sighed. The first leg of his time in Unova hadnât been the best. He had saved up all of his overtime, and extra cash to spend a month in the western region, and it really wasnât paying off. The Pokemon back home were easier to catch, but he blamed the âjet lagâ for his shortcomings.Â
To really think of it, it had been quite a while since he had a challenge. Getting easily frustrated wasnt a good look for him, especially since he was trying to become the next champion of Alola. Looking over at his Torracat, he squinted. The Alolan fire type seemed hyper fixated on something in the bushes, which he could only assume was a Pokemon. There didnât seem to be many berries left around this time of year, which was to be expected. Not everywhere had a consistent climate.Â
Stepping forward slowly, he was careful not to crunch too loudly. He hoped that whatever it was, wasnât easily spooked. Torra crouched, readying her attack. Holding out a hand, Kouske army crawled under the bush to see what was bothering his companion. Peeking into the clearing, the first thing he saw was a Sawsbuck, and a not so friendly one at that. Quickly backing up, he stood with both hands in the air.
âWe come in peace!!! Please donât attack!â
âWe come in peace!!! Please donât attack!â
Well, this is unexpected. Mei wasnât expecting to see anyone on her way to the next town, so coming face-to-face with the unknown male was a bit of a surprise to her. No wonder that why Sawsbuck was feeling a bit defensive earlier, he was just trying to protect his trainer.
âWell, I donât think Takeshi would attack you, would you?â She slowly glides her hand behind his ears, humming a small tune as the male PokĂ©mon gave her a look. A slight grunt could be heard coming out the Sawsbuckâs snout before he stopped his attack. âIâm glad you see it my way, Take.â She turned her attention back to the trainer, tilting her head slightly in curiosity at the PokĂ©mon he had tagged along with him.
âHmm⊠how strange.â
She looked back at the trainer and gave him a slight smile. âYou must not be from Unova, are you? Iâve never seen a Pokemon like yours before! Sheâs quite fascinating.â She held a hand out to the elder and beamed. âMy name is Mei, former Champion of Unova. You look a little lost hereâŠ?â She questions, waiting for his introduction.
fateful encounter // mei & touya
unovakindâ:
âSorry, that sounded like I was rushing the story, but this party stuff kind of makes me nervous, like Iâm standing outâŠâ
Touya couldnât help but crack a smile at the girlâs summarization of her journey. There was something about her that reminded him of himself, or a younger version of himself, anyway. Maybe he was just feeling nostalgic, or maybe it was the similarities of their experiences, but he felt more similar to Mei than heâd expected. It was no wonder sheâd run into N on her journey.Â
fallen leaves;
The first day of autumn has finally found its way to hit the Unova region, and Mei couldnât be any more ecstatic.
Not only do the leaves fall, but there is that brisk chilly weather that would wake you up in the mornings when youâre leaving your home. Itâs also the season for carnivals and festivals, welcoming all the different festivities. Between carnival games, eating candy apples, corn mazes, and hayrides, there was nothing that seemed really bad about autumn.
The best part about it was that Takeshi, her Sawsbuck, went through his seasonal coat change. It was always interesting to witness him changing right before her eyes. She stopped in an open field and pulled out the maleâs pokĂ©ball, holding it in her palms before throwing it up in the air. âLetâs see you, Takeshi!â A magnificent glow appeared in front of her until it revealed the proud stature of one of her partner PokĂ©mon.
âWow, I just love your autumn coat, Take,â she grins at the male, chuckling when he turns his head away from her, âOh, stop it, you love the compliment.â She rubs the top of his head, pecking the tip of his nose lovingly.
Suddenly, a faint crunch of the fallen leaves alerted the Sawsbuckâs senses, causing him to jolt in from of its trainer. He started to use Energy Ball, a glowing ball of green appearing on the top of his head in an act of protection. âCalm down Take, it could just be another trainer, someone friendly.â Mei quickly rubbed her PokĂ©monâs back to calm him down. âHello, is anyone there?â

When it came to cooking, Ingo had a decent hand in getting something palatable onto the table, but baking proved to be a far more complicated art. One wrong move and the whole dish could be ruined, and he knew his limits, again, especially after the caramel accident during the previous attempt!
But even soâŠ
Mei insisted, and she was hard to oppose with her determination of making it as special as they could. Wow, it really means a lot to her!

Mei can understand the nerves you get when it comes to anything related to food. Cooking and baking go together: measuring, mixing, putting things in the oven. Everything about the skill. But, she loves doing it regardless. The idea of being able to place something on the table for others to indulge in satisfies her.

He remembers fondly now, just how wary Mei had once been. It was evident, by her position on his arm that she had grown in both confidence and spirit, her kindness continuing to blossom with each day⊠and each dish.
His smile broadens a touch further when she mentions carrot cake, and it only makes the cafe feel that much further than the couple of city blocks that really stood between them. Ingo pats her hand once, âWeâre both thrilled to have anything that youâve put so much care into.â

Mei was very ecstatic when Ingo mentioned the use of nice café kitchen. A kitchen is already something that was needed to even make anything, but it was touching that he offered the use of it. We have to make this cake taste extra special!
What is your absolute favorite pastry? Do you know how to make it?
âOh my gosh, I love pastries so much!â The brown-haired trainer squealed in delight as she started to thing about what her favorite pastry was. Rosa has made a lot of different things, so she had to think about what really stood our to her about her favorite.
âI would have to say cream puffs are my absolute favorite pastry. Donât tell Ingo, but I have been trying to perfect the recipe so he can try it when I see him again.â
itâs been a billion years since weâve did ask, so????

Fortunately, itâs not a backside that hits the ground; even if the girlâs got the strength of a machamp hidden in her slim frame, Green manages to keep to his feet, if with a foot stepping back as the two collide to keep his balance.

âHey, itâs alright, itâs fine! Just watch where youâre going, yeah?â
Well, your face could say otherwise.
fateful encounter // mei & touya
unovakind:
Save the world? Touya wouldnât exactly call it thatâŠ.especially since he didnât work alone at all. Team up with all the gym leaders and his friends to prevent a radical Pokemon Rights team from taking over the region and capturing the legendary Pokemon under the leadership of a green-haired cyclops? That sounds much more accurate.Â
But there was something else Mei said that really stuck out to Touya. Something that made his heart pound and his eyes widen. The person missing in his life that heâd almost stopped searching for.
âYou met N?âÂ

Silent is his excitement with the news, though it remains apparent still, with the soft smile that spreads onto his face. Not only had one of his dear friends returned, she bore the good news that she was prepared to share the latest in his recipe arsenal.
Whether it be a muffin, a cookie or a tart, the gift is one where she canât go wrong, and the moment as a whole was not only a delightful song to the ears, but a deep breath of the fresh spring air that seemed to follow her no matter where she turned up. Simply put, it was a refreshing surprise during such a stale and repetitive work week.
âSure I can,â Thereâs a profound sobriety in his voice that he is perhaps well known for, and it remains entirely unflappable, even in his delight, âAs always, the kitchen in the cafe is fully stocked for you, and if there happens to be too much, Iâm fairly certain we can find a few volunteers to try it out there, too.â
Mei was quick to hear the sound of excitement that was evident in the how welcoming he was of her return. The elder was always the nicest person to her, whether she came for a battle in the subway or just to drop of more treats to him, it was always the same smile and cheerfulness she appreciated.
