āItās the fourth of July.ā Sophie explained, her eyes fixing upon the marching band. She never expected they would have one considering the town was small, but everyone seemed pretty excited over it.Ā āSo⦠Happy fourth. Maybe itās for you, who really knows? Weād have to ask the mayor.ā the brunette joked, the loud music playing really starting to get on her nerves. It wasnāt that she didnāt like this day, but perhaps her personal life was so fucked Sophie couldnāt find the mood to celebrate. Whatever it was, she wasnāt feeling it today.Ā āYou better run as fast as you can, I donāt think theyāll be finishing any time soon.āĀ
Ā Ā Ā āExplains it,ā Milo nodded, pursing his lips and crossing his arms.Ā āHappy Holidays, sure.ā He was never one to celebrate events, let alone one that supposedly stood for freedom. Where was it, if that was the case, yaāknow? While he kept his opinions to himself, he appreciated the novelty of the celebration, though. There were hanging flags, and children smiling; he couldnāt help but be tolerant.Ā āIf itās for me, it started a bit e a r l y, Iād say.ā he shot her a smirk.Ā āEh. I liveĀ āround āere, so I donāt think thereās any escape. But, thanks for the headās up.ā
Dessa tried as much as she could to greet Milo whenever he came back to town, taking it upon herself to look up the bus schedules well in advance. She never knew what kind of help he needed and it just felt right to welcome him home properly.Ā āIt could be. I could have gotten a band and was preparing to serenade to you. I had balloons too, and a megaphone.ā Sheās already going in to give him a hug. āHow was your trip? Find anything spooky?ā
Ā Ā Ā At the sight of a familiar face, Milo allowed a warm smile to tug at his lips.Ā āOh, and what would I have done without an announcement. What happened to the b a l l o o n s?ā He laughed, bringing Dessa into an embrace.Ā āHey, Swan,ā he hummed into her shoulder,Ā āHowĀ āya been?ā When he pulled away, he shrugged,Ā āIt was long. Too much water, if you ask me. On a boat for one day? Fine. Two weeks? K i l lĀ Ā me. 'Sides, it was just a whaleās erection, too; not a kraken, or a squid, or anything else with a tentacle. Got you a souvenir, though āĀ a āc u r s e dā wooden flute,if thatās spooky ānough for ya. Catch.ā
Major was not one to miss out on anything festive going on around his small town, and he was naturally part of the marching band, too. Well, not officially, but heād been following them around for a little bit. Not because he was really into it, but because it was a slow time of day all around and beat sitting around at the stall. Then that bus arrived and man, he almost felt sorry for the people stepping off it. āOh no man, it totally was. They were waitinā around but decided to just move on, I guess,ā he joked as a man from the bus addressed him, āNah, itās the fourth, yāknow? Donāt got a calendar on you?ā
Ā Ā Ā āWarm welcome,ā Milo smirked, nodding at the joke presented by the stranger. His eyes adjusted to the blaring sun, causing him to squint in the direction of the departing marchers before he settled upon the ambiance. Barbecues, stands, and flags; hot dogs, laughter, and face paint. His gaze lingered on what he could possibly consume for lunch when he offhandedly voiced,Ā āTime tends to escape me. Happy F r e e d o m, I guess.ā
āPrepping for more high bluffs, meditation, and night-vision encounters.ā
āDAYBREAKā is a seemingly fictional podcast created and hosted by Milo Davis, broadcasting variousĀ ācasesā every Sunday. Davis narrates a nonfiction-styled seemingly fictional story over the course of multiple episodes. The story begins as a biography of a paranormal/private investigator, who shares his namesake, on a mission to debunk all claims of the supernatural.
Milo Davis is author of New York Times Best SellerāsĀ āMonster Among Us,ā and private investigator of EAST Incorporated, previously located in Seattle, WA.
Ā Ā Ā MUSIC filled the air the moment Milo stepped down from his bus. Quizzically, he turned his head from side-to-side, before fixing his gaze on a marching band ā the source. It was l o u d coming around the corner; almost d e a f e n i n gĀ in its wake. You couldnāt miss it. Furthermore, the roar of people finally penetrated his tired ears. He had only just woken up since the last stop, and his world was ringing. It was unavoidable. ToĀ the nearest nameless face, he mused, āDonā know whatās goinā on, but I doubt itās for me, huh?ā
MILO DAVIS is a 31 year old from SEATTLE, WASHINGTON, living in Beaumont for the past THREE MONTHS. HE is a PRIVATE INVESTIGATOR and in his downtime loves READING ILLUMINATI FANFICTION and PODCASTING HIS MISADVENTURES. He looks an awful lot like BOB MORLEY. (ooc: natalya, 23, she/her, est)
Positive Traits: Rational, Calm, Passionate
Negative Traits: Guarded, Selfish, Analytical
Note: Milo has been a muse of mine for about three years now (my baby), so writing a blurb after all this time is the oddest thing to me. Bare with me if Iām rambling or there isnāt enough detail! Iām always up for plotting or further explanation, so feel free to message me after the read.
Milo Davis is a private investigator who specializes in debunking āparanormalā / āsupernaturalā activity, cases, etc. He considers himself a realist, and sort of got into this line of work by chance. He was merely doing his neighbors a service when they thought their house wasĀ āhauntedā and began traveling the world to help those who were too scared to look at what was lying further in the dark. He believes:Ā āThereās an explanation for everything.ā
He went to school with the intentions of joining the FBI, having a degree in criminal justice and computer science, though he never really puts the latter to use. Right now, he loves his career, and doesnāt see himself doing anything other than traveling and producing his podcast named āDaybreak.ā He works for himself in terms of investigations, and itās a service calledĀ āEAST, Inc.ā
He travels a lot because of his line of work, consequently becoming very guarded. His mother walked out on him when he was young, and he grew up with an abusive father, adding salt to the wound. With moving from place to place because of his occupation, he could never bring him attach, and ultimately, forgot how to altogether. He doesnāt talk about himself, and often will deflect conversation in a way you wouldnāt realize he did. Heās nice about it.
Right now, heās back in Beaumont after leaving on a sailing trip throughout the Atlantic. He had been living here three months prior, so if you might remember him. I want to say he had been gone for about four weeks. He is also Elijahās roommate, living on his couch.
* * *
Heās a very chill guy; very friendly and tries to be as personable as he can despite feeling connections are onlyĀ temporary. Impressions last, so might as well make the most of them. Heās the definition of flexible. He kind of adapts to whomever heās speaking to.
He collects cassette tapes. His Jeep Liberty didnāt have a radio for the longest time, having bought a used car, and so he installed a cassette player he found in a junk yard. Been in love ever since, and keeps his favorites in an old rucksack.
Heās also always wearing that forsaken rucksack! Please buy him a new one! This Jack Kerouac-wannabe has had this backpack since he was in college, and itās high-time he got one that isnāt ripped and blood-stained. (Please also teach him how to properly do laundry. He . . . cannot. Forgive him if he smells like a sewer sometimes, too. He probably just crawled out of one.)
Heās the kind of guy that is so busy, he forgets his basic needs. Baby him. Mother him. Feed this child who hasnāt eaten in sixteen hours becauseĀ āhe forgot.ā
HisĀ āofficeā is in an old bookstore called āWalden Pond.ā He made a deal with the owner, a kind old man whom allowed for him to set up shop in the back. All his walls are bookshelves, with his desk in the middle. The old man is namedĀ āAbeā who also takes all his messages. Thank him for his service. Milo closes the shop every Saturday night to have a cup of whiskey with him by a fire.
Anyway!
This was super extensive, but if you read this? Thank you. If you didnāt read this? Thank you.
So I bought lemonade from these little girlsā lemonade stand and as I was leaving one of them yelled āYouāre welcome for the lemonade and good luck fighting the dragon!ā so now Iām slightly concerned about how the rest of my day is going to go
