AFTG is a slow burn BUT not the first time you read it only the next ones. The first time you read it it’s simply a sport fiction with found family and then BANG ‘doesn’t mean I wouldn’t blow you’ and you are as surprised as Neil is

kinda gay for men to be homophobic. you literally think about men having sex with men
wish I was a politician so I could randomly drop this sentence during a meeting with homophobic politicians and just see what responses they come up with
theres some queerbaiting thats like cask of amantillado levels of deception where i almost pity the fool who has been caught but then theres queerbaiting thats like a block of cheese under a box propped up by a stick and i think if you fall for that kind you deserved it maybe
everyone here hates when their posts blow up yet no one fucking hesitates to reblog already popular posts. no one shows that kindness and it's wonderful. a mutual understanding that op dug their own grave by being a top notch clown and that's their problem, not yours
All hail our new clown
People who act aggressive and negative as fuck and then when you’re like “hey can you stop” they’re like “I’m going through some stuff 🥺🥺🥺” like damn dude that’s crazy me too - for example right now I’m going through YOUR behavior.
“I’m dealing with a lot 🥺🥺🥺” and I’m dealing with you so I guess we’re even
If your reactions to your trauma or your problems are making other people around you feel unsafe you need new coping mechanisms.
who the fuck started this ‘prev tags’ nonsense. is that the work of those twitter kids that allegedly migrated here. stop that. if yall want people to see someone else’s tags just copy and paste or screenshot add them in a comment on the reblog like god intended
*sits down*
dont you think its weird. dont you think its weird that the space race last time was two of the biggest powers in the world. and now its a handful of rich men. dont you think its weird they can afford that. dont you think its bad that rich men can afford the same things as the government.
dont you think its weird that while the world is suffering and poverty is everywhere, where there's wars and climate change and human pain and homelessness. the same month I've watched people die on the news from unbearable heat and unprecedented flooding. that a rich handful of men are going to space, causing more carbon emissions. dont you think its weird that instead of putting their vast amount of money to use for good they're using it to find a way off the planet theyre destroying.
dont you think its really fucking weird.
i’m obsessed with this
and then, two months later....
🥺
i hate when the cicadas all stop suddenly like wait my greek chorus . should i be worried
Years ago back when I worked in cubicle land, we were hiring junior software developers. They didn’t have to have a ton of experience, just a willingness to learn, and some demonstration of their software skills. Like: show me a program you wrote (any language) or a web site you designed. Anything.
And there was this one guy I talked with who seemed super sharp, but had virtually zero experience writing software. When it came time to do the show-n-tell part of the interview he whips out his laptop, brings up a website, and spins it around to show me what he made.
A website of tiny ceramic frogs.
Not for sale. Just… all these ceramic frogs, organized into categories. Frogs on bicycles, frogs with hats, frogs sitting on lily pads. It was a virtual museum of ceramic frogs in web form.
I scrolled through his online collection of frogs, slightly baffled.
“This is your website?” I asked finally.
“Yep!”
“You coded this yourself?” I popped into view-source mode and poked around some incredibly well-formatted, well-commented html. I nodded slowly. This guy was meticulous.
“Yep!”
“So… where’d all the frogs come from?”
“I made those too,” he says, beaming.
And while I’m processing this he rummages in his bag and pulls out a little ceramic frog working at a computer terminal. He places it on the table before us, next to the laptop.
“And THIS one,” he says, “I made for you! As a thank you for the interview.”
It was adorable. I hired him on the spot. I mean, why not? Worst case he’d wash out in 90 days and we’d hire somebody else. He turned out to be one of the best developers on our team.
And yes, his cubicle was loaded with ceramic frogs.

The secret to writing relatable characters is to picture yourself in their circumstances, carefully fix in your mind exactly what information would be available to you in that situation, and figure out what the worst possible decision you can imagine yourself honestly thinking seemed like a good idea at the time is.
When people say “don’t write idiot plots”, that doesn’t mean never have characters make stupid decisions: it means don’t have them make decisions that are stupid simply because they’re convenient for the plot. Your characters’ choices should be well reasoned and well justified from their own perspective, and at the same time, from a hypothetical omniscient observer’s perspective the dumbest fucking thing you’ve ever heard.
