Why People Are Frustrated: A Critique.

I couldn’t put into words what bothered me about the ending, but this sums it up pretty nicely.

This is a really nice way of putting things, to be honest.

I think that Homestuck ended in a way that was probably very in line with the spirit of what Homestuck is, and in line with a lot of the things I tend to like about Homestuck compared with other stories. However, it did end in a way that was very unsatisfying on a number of levels.

I’m going to be thinking about this for years, I think.

Hopefully the epilogue will reverse some of that strange plot order stuff that seems backwards.

Chara is a textbook psychopath, Flowey (Asriel) is a textbook sociopath.  Before I get started, let me just start by explaining so many people get sociopath and psychopath mixed up, someone acting erratic and in a rage and passionately violent is generally said to be acting “psycho” when really that is what a sociopath would do. Many images and sites get this mixed up the other way round.  Here is how to remember them the right way, the actual meaning of the words. -pathy actually means an ailment, Socio- means social and sociological, and Psycho- means mind. Someone who is a sociopath is likely to stay on the fringe of society and avoid being social, they are antisocial and normally develop the illness because of the social setting they are raised in. they have an illness of the social system. Psychopaths are born with their brains (minds) susceptible to the ailment, they medically cannot feel any empathy because of the way their brain is wired. They have an illness of the mind. Now to delve into the explanation of why Flowey is a Sociopath and Chara is a Psychopath.

So at my school there’s a feedback board where you write your opinions and stuff on napkins and pin them up. My school recently changed where you get the hotdogs so I decided to leave some feedback with Sans asking ‘where’s the ‘dogs?’

What I didn’t expect was to come back and find a Papyrus asking for pasta.. followed by a number of other Undertale related napkins to fill up a corner of the board over the following days! It was so fun to go back and see if new napkins were put up and finding out there’s some other rad people on my campus.

Sadly the board filled up and everything was taken down for the replies to be put up.

When you check Napstablook, they actually respond to the flavor text Chara was providing. It makes me curious, because that means Blooky can either hear what Chara is saying, or can see the dialog box. So can all of the character see the dialog box and have just never questioned that there was some disembodied voice narrating this kids life, or Can Blooky hear what Chara is saying too? If they can, could Mettaton? The only other characters to interact with the dialog box (to my memory) was the Mad Dummy and Mettaton. So maybe ghosts could have seen passive Chara ghost hanging around Frisk, or at least heard what Chara was say to them.

Papyrus also “responds” to the flavor text. Specifically, if you check him on your first turn, his description says “Likes to say Nyeh Heh Heh”, to which he will fittingly reply “Nyeh Heh Heh”, whereas if you don’t he just begins the fight with his normal battle spiel.

I do not believe we've ever heard an explanation for the lack of Meenah duplicates, no. Same with the lack of Vriska duplicates.

I definitely remember having read that there was only one Meenah sonewhere. It may have been in a walkaround or it may have been in Aranea and Jake/Terezi's chat when they were going to get together in their drrambubble reunion. I'll have a look and double check
