One of the reasons I love Holly Black's books so much is that the fae are weird (as they are supposed to be!). Same with the emily wilde series by Heather Fawcett. More strange and disconcerting folk please 🙏🏻 Less cis het conventionally attractive liars pretty pretty please 🙏🏻

Rough sketch for a thing I've had floating in my head all week. I wonder if I can get away with posting this on instagram

Hey, you… Wanna send each other birds?
If you haven’t heard, there’s a new “slow-cial” media app called Roost Social! The concept of it is sending messages to others via bird! You collect birds, then use those birds to send messages to your friends and pen pals! ^_^
If anyone here would like, feel free to add me on Roost! My @ is @sogumbii !
Endlessly diabolical how you can't say words like rape and suicide uncensored without either being criticised by idiots or punished by conglomerates.
It's not r*pe, it's rape. It's not su*cide, it's suicide. Not unalive, dead. The backbone needs to be reintroduced en masse because softening the blow of these concepts with advertising language does absolutely nothing but allow people unaffected by them to feel not even a sting of what they can do, prompting inaction.
And it's been proven that on certain websites, you don't even face a repercussion for using the words as they are. People just started censoring themselves because they feared the potential lack of views and likes and followers which is so nasty itself.
I attended an anti-suicide seminar in college. One of the big takeaways from it was that stigmatizing suicide increases the rate of suicide, because people who are feeling suicidal feel like they can't ask for help. Every time I see babytalk garbage like 'unalive', I think of that.
Use the real words. Words have power, and they matter.

text: [ “Some of you have forgotten that only three years ago you were perfectly capable of writing an essay, writing a eulogy, telling a bedtime story to a child, and it should worry you that powerful companies have convinced us we can’t do things we’ve been doing for 5000 years.” ]
People send me asks every week informing me they’ve seen my fics used for ai chatbots or that they themself on alt accounts are scraping my fics to generate ai writing(which is seriously messed up)
At first I stayed quiet, not wanting to bring it up because I know it’ll just cause more people to scrape my works.
But I’m so tired. I’m tired of my hard work being stolen. Why do you do this to us? Haven’t I given you enough free stories? Do you know how much I love all of you, how happy it made me when people commented on my fics and said they liked them?
Now that AI is more popular, I’ve seen in real time how people started treating writers like they were just a content farm. People abandon us or feed our works into AI if we don’t pump out stories fast enough.
It’s exhausting. The last few years I wrote so much that I ended incredibly burnt out to the point I’ve barely written anything in the past few months, but it’s still not enough.
Nothing is enough.
Please, for the love of god give your favorite writers some love. A lot of us are so close to giving up. I know I am.
