I thought everyone had noticed he never harms children. He only kidnaps them. In marble Hornets, those are adults. Albeit young adults, but adults nonetheless.
You can ask around and you'll always find at least one person who's met Slendy. He's real because we all believe in him to some extent. As children, he watches us from the shadows, usually when we're walking alone in the dark. He's watching OUT for us.
When I was young, I ran away from home one time, the only time, and I was lost and scared in the woods. In Alaska, it's common to meet a bear or pack of wolves, as well as humans who'd do you harm, so being the 6 year-old I was I knew the possibility of running into something. I found a hollow tree and crouched in it, sobbing.
I heard a noise nearby. No footsteps, just leaves rustling above and tiny twigs snapping. A white hand grabbed me by the arm and lifted me up, out of the hollow.
He carried me to the edge of the woods, and I remember feeling unusually safe in his arms. That's the only time I've been comfortable with someone carrying me, let alone a strange in the woods.
The next day there was a carcass of a large male brown bear not five feet from that hollow. Its side was clawed open, but nothing in the area had claws that were 6-7in long. That was just unheard of, and the troopers thought it may have been a grizzly. They're just very uncommon on the island I lived on.
