Finally, Elves and cats! I made a post a little while ago about the idea, and Turgon being a cat person seemed rather popular. I also liked @yavieriel's idea that 'Finrod travels too much- he likes cats but they never really get attached to him specifically.' So here they are with cat friends and fireflies.

yeah i support small businesses. i read & leave comments on fics that aren’t already super popular!
like: i get the appeal of filtering by kudos/comments. you want The Good Stuff, the stuff you know people like because it’s popular.
but fandom is built not just by BNFs with massive followings. it’s built by people who write drabbles and oneshots. it’s built by people working their asses off on niche longfics. it’s built by people who update once a year. it’s built by people writing in a language that isn’t their mother tongue. it’s built by 12 year olds writing self insert fic. it’s built by people who write the same story with the same pairing and the same tropes over and over again. and all of these things are important!!!
i follow lots of AO3feed-[fandom] blogs and i read a lot of that fic! i follow fics that promise to be long, even when they’re just starting out, even when the author has no past evidence that they’ll commit to a story! and yeah, that strategy means that sometimes a fic is left unfinished and i don’t know the ending, and that it means that i’ve read a lot of mediocre fic in my time, but it is WORTH IT.
MANY times i’ve thought a fic has been abandoned, but then the author comes back years later apologizing for leaving it for so long and saying that comments are what got them to come back. MANY times i’ve followed a fic writer as they find their footing in a fandom and got a better grasp of a character or relationship dynamic. MANY times i’ve watched people improve as writers as they keep going.
it’s so rewarding every time!! you take risks supporting smaller content creators and fics that aren’t already well-established and popular, but it’s super worth it!! your kudos and comments and subscriptions MATTER, on an individual level, for each author. if you’re a fic writer, you know that - but it’s true for OTHER fic writers, too.
you should read fic by small creators. you should read fic that isn’t already super popular. you should comment on that fic, to give the writers the validation they need to keep writing.
who knows? maybe if you do, they’ll write the next top fic everyone’s talking about!!
🌟 for Magor?
🌟 - a secret wish or desire he has
Not that I owe this to you at all, you understand, but -
I wish I could be reunited with my wife. I wish she hadn’t been slain, I wish that my father hadn’t loathed her and hated me for my defiance of his will (this, it seems, is a running theme in my family) and I wish that I’d been allowed to grieve and to mourn for her in the same way Nelyo wept for his lost love.
Her name was Aeriel, and she was Telerin. Much has been made of the fact that I wrote the Ñoldolantë after Alqualondë, and not later, but the truth is that I wanted to give her a proper lament.
“But there was in Thranduil’s heart a still deeper shadow. He had seen the horror of Mordor and could not forget it. If ever he looked south its memory dimmed the light of the Sun.” JRR Tolkien, Unfinished Tales

Can Earendil look down upon the earth and see everything from his boat? Or did I completely make that up?
If it's not canon, at the very least it's widely accepted fanon.
I mean. Presumably, elves can see great distances, and if he's just looking straight down at the earth he should be able to see what's going on.
hell yea
“And over Middle-earth he passed
And heard at last the weeping sore
Of women and of elven maids
In Elder Days, in Years of Yore”
(according to bilbo) he can at least hear those residing in middle-earth, and i don’t think it’s unreasonable to extrapolate that he can see them too!
Wanna write like Tolkien? Start by mentioning lots of obscure places at random points in the text!
“Ëarendil was a mariner /that tarried in Arvenien, / he built a boat of timber felled / in Nimbrethil to journey in;” for most LotR readers, they have no clue where those places are and it will not ever be explained.
It adds depth to the work by showing that there’s tons of lore beneath the surface and that Middle-Earth has a rich history and geography, and it’s also really fuckin’ annoying sometimes because the context that lets the poem make sense to the characters is completely absent for the reader.
YES!
My illustrations for Valaquenta ( The Silmarillion )
k i’m kinda curious so if you would, rb with your favorite silm character and what you think that says about you
Fingolfin, which probably means I have a hero complex and a tumblr URL that needs to be changed
Gil-galad too, which basically means the same thing
Maglor. So I’m either a sucker for lost causes or a believer in redemption, take your pick.
Fingolfin, Gil-galad and Celebrimbor. I believe in the hero, no matter who they are and I love the good fight, that old cliche, of the battle between light and dark.
Finrod, Maglor, Maedhros, Celebrimbor, Galadriel, Elrond, Feanor, Fingon, Caranthir, Azaghal, Ulmo, Aule, Yavanna, Fingolfin, Tuor, Hador, Beren, Andreth, Lalwen (shut up, Andreth & Lalwen are definitely in the Better, More Complete edition of the Silmarillion). Maybe Turin. CIRDAN, I can’t believe I almost forgot Cirdan. Gil-galad, obviously. Haleth. Beleg. HURIN. … Glaurung and Ancalagon the black. This says about me that I am really bad at making decisions, and also I like dragons.
Finarfin and Eönwë, which tells me I’m a sucker for underappreciated characters
And Maglor, meaning I am a horrible person who likes to see their faves suffer
Turgon?.... I hope that doesn't mean I got isolationist tendencies.
‘My child, be brave, be strong. I can no longer wipe your tears away.’
Little/adult Fingon with Fingolfin requested by hereff.
Warning that I’ve never drawn a comic before so this formatting is a mess.
That Tengwar hopefully translates to ‘father’ in Quenya.
