I don’t think about Morgoth as much as I should but it’s bugging me that for much of the First Age his crown has only two Silmarils in it (after Beren steals one).
So from that point onward one of the three settings stands empty and he absolutely HATES how tacky it looks, and no one sensible dares say anything about it?? Oh and he can’t even get it remade because he canonically REFUSES to take off the Iron Crown—
And imagine he tries replacing it with some lesser stone and it just looks worse somehow because of course next to the Silmarils every jewel looks like it’s on clearance from Claire’s and Gothmog or someone unwisely tries to be nice like, “my lord, the diamond looks very—” before getting yeeted out the hall with extreme prejudice
Sauron’s like “that FOOL thought to mention the asymmetric headgear”
this got me thinking and. behold the cursed concept this post spawned unto my brain: the iron crown with the missing silmaril replaced by maedhros' hand
Guys maybe someday I'll finish and post fanfiction again. That was a fun time. When I was doing that.
I’m once again thinking about those elves who were captured in the early days of Angband, who only knew the world under starlight, who escaped at last after the rising of the sun and moon. Some who, at the end of the war of Wrath, were led out into the ruins beneath an entirely alien sky.
They have no names for these strange lights. It hurts them, some taking years for their eyes to adjust, some never do.
While they were trapped beneath the earth, in the forges and mines of Angband, the world itself was rewritten and they can never go back.
I want to Draugilpost but I can’t think of anything good to say
okay not to ocpost again but the worst thing about having an oc is sometimes they become The Character to you. and you need to talk to someone about it like wow I can’t stop thinking about The Character… but in order to do so you have to like sit them down and explain everything about your oc first. and then it’s just you explaining your writing ideas. i need to talk about them the same way i would talk about any random character i love to someone.
beleriand is sinking, our age of first is collapsing
art #66 for TRSB
I got to partner with @lymira ( @valinorianyears ) for this one, so get ready for their fic on the 6th of SEPTEMBER feat. Glorthelion and the Noldor Hair Thing <3
Not enough stories with disabled protags who were once independent loners and abled struggling with their new reality of relying on others. Where is the anger? . Where is your rage? Lets scream abt it. Rage rage rage.
Theres too much tip-toeing around the writing of violatile emotions for my liking when its part of the grief for your own body/ability. Grief thats mistaken for ungratefulness. Whatever.
But that would probably require equal respect and emotional grace for disabled people that people give their caretakers so like lmao.
Im gonna be so real i think that people are scared to show anger from disabled people bc they are scared of seeing disabled people through a lense of the average person.
They think the most saintly thing you can do is care for someone disables but don't care about the emotions the disabled person themselves feel. Once you reach a certain threshold of disability, people stop seeing you as on the same level of humanity as everyone else. So the thought of a disabled person actually having negative emotion towards this help is shocking to them.
Sympathy is handed out to those exhausted and hurt from having to care for disabled people (which is fine), but not those whom may be in the process of mourning their own bodies/ability/mind. We can show a nurse/doctor having a breakdown, have entire genres of show and movie and book revolve around it, but if a disabled person lashes out thats seen as something much crueler in the eyes of the typical viewer. Its spoken about in the same vein of a dog who bites and thus "needs to be put down".
Why? Why? One day that could be you. You are not safe from one day becoming disabled. Nobody is.
I love characters who are like "I'm a terrible person" but when you look closer it's more like
"I adapted to survive something and now I don't know how to stop being that version of myself."
Mercenaries at the tavern are always laughing at me saying "He hasn't the stones!" and I know they mean balls but sometimes I feel like they mean the powerful elfstones that can grant any wish. And it's like well nobody has those
I've just received some distressing news
alright i miss them i’ll admit it
Sure, we could have stored more food and sundry supplies instead of bringing along fancy dress costumes, but where's the whimsy in that? Who's to say that we didn't need a monkey in a tiny diaper? Surely these things will see us through to the Pacific and beyond, right?
There are some characters where giving them therapy and cleaning them up is the fanfiction equivalent of buying antique furniture and painting it white
Celegorm would probably be the worst trip sitter ever he’s the one yelling NIGHTMARE NIGHTMARE NIGHTMARE NIGHTMARE and shaking you around
curufin behind him like “bro why are you such a vessel. why are you actually a vessel of a greater will bro. why are you vesselmaxxing right now like seriously”
The rescue of Maedhros 🦅 for @chechula (of course, she kept nagging me with it for quite a while), seems it's been at least seven years since I drew any Fëanorians, fuf!
merry christmas, please don’t call
