" UNDERESTIMATED " Caitlyn Kiramman x Fem!Enforcer!Reader ( REQUEST! )
~430 words, oneshot. CWs: likely not canon, hints at her grief
Currently, you stand at the edge of Caitlyn's bed as she sits at the edge, staring out the window. She's lost in thought, barely acknowledging you, even though she's the one who called you here. After another long minute of silence, she looks at you, gesturing for you to sit down with a nod. "Sit."
You obligue, sitting close to her but leaving enough distance to be respectful. Though you've had your eyes on her for a while, she was your boss, this was your job, there was no time to make any advances. Especially during moments like this.
"Have there been any updates on Jinx? I need to know more to put this together." She spits out her name like it's been soaked in poison, you can tell she's been sitting on this topic long before she called you in. "No ma'am, I have not." You shake your head, keeping your hands tucked in your lap.
Caitlyn had always turned to you for everything, especially after her mother passed, even for things no one else ever found out about. It was almost secretive, but you weren't a secret. You were always closest to her, right by her side. At events, if another enforcer was by her side, she'd order you two to switch.
Everybody knew you were her girl, even if nobody, including you, knew what exactly that meant.
Her eyes linger on you for a moment before looking down and away. "You're from the undercity, correct?". She doesn't ask with ill intent, you're surprised she even remembered. You nod after slight hesitation. "Do you have any idea about where Jinx could be? Assuming that you know your way around there."
"No... I don't. I haven't been there since I was small, I haven't the slightest idea." You say sheepishly. "I see." She seemed- dissapointed? Not in you, but about the roadblock. She was running out of ideas in the moment.
Caitlyn sighs, laying her head on your lap. "Well, regardless, thank you for coming up. I needed some company to just- stop thinking." She seems defeated, it was unusual. Since her mom died, she's typically been in a state of despair, rage, or intense focus.
You begin to gently run your fingers through her hair in an attempt to calm her. It felt like you were overstepping, but you felt like you had to do something. She softens at the feeling, you feel her physically relax.
"Of course, anything for you." You say, sighing a small sigh of relief. At least you could help. Maybe you had underestimated how much you meant to her.
