"it's just stress" oh thank god, it's just the silent killer that slowly kills you, perfectly harmless, no need to worry
Trump had a stroke.
love the CC function on emails. "you should know about this but you don't have to take care of it."
love the BCC function even more. "you shouldn't know about this but you can eavesdrop. keep it to yourself." ok then đŸ’…âœ¨
@sixth-light #guys BCC is also so you don't share people's emails unnecessarily#so more like. 'you should know about this but you don't need the personal emails of the other 200 people who also need to know about this'#please please please use BCC if you are doing bulk emails to people who don't know each other as standard practice#I mean ideally use a CRM of some sort but at minimum BCC
The people who insist AI is smarter than a human are doing their fucking damnedest to manifest that
i think a big part of the problem is that llms aren't wrong all the time. if it was wrong all the time from the get-go then people would never become reliant, but instead it does worse brain damage by eliminating users' ability to tell right from wrong
don’t date. a sports team can also let you down for the rest of your life and doesn’t move into your house.
how it started vs how it's going
relentlessly funny to me when people treat a relationship between someone in their 30s and someone in their 40s as "age difference". bro i cannot tell you which of my friends are 34 and which are 44. i can probably tell you which ones aren't 30 yet, but it's probable some of them are 50 now and i didn't notice. if you're over 30 and don't have kids, it's kinda all one age until you can collect social security.

(voice of someone about to turn 30) it’s nice making friends. It’s nice to play together and have fun. It’s nice to hang out
learning to notice an absence of people of color is crazy. you start seeing it everywhere. ill see a random pic of characters or people or whatever and be like "these are all white people. why"
HATE when you can't stand someone who is literally harmless. Like oh I'm the bitch here. I'm 100% in the wrong but nonetheless fuuuccckkk this guy
stopppp everyone absolutely needs to see this
So my dad was the assistant music editor on Tarzan, and idk if it was Bring Your Kid to Work Day or something but one day he did just that so there I was, this incredibly small 1st grader, in an absolutely cavernous recording studio with a full orchestra and a giant screen playing the scene they were taping the score for, and my little brain couldn't handle the big music and the big movie happening all at once so I started crying and it was the first time music ever brought me to tears and it was too much to take in so we stepped out of the studio and ran directly into Phil Collins, who looked to me very much like my dad, and in my delicate emotional state I became immediately convinced that my dad had been copied and nobody had told me so I started crying harder, and Phil Collins said something that was probably meant to be calming but it was with a British accent so I thought there was a copy of my dad in every country and I absolutely lost it at the notion that other kids would get to have my dad, and my dad ended up having to carry me back to the car.
So.
Sorry for crying very loudly at you Phil Collins, your work on Tarzan was so moving it triggered my first emotional breakdown.
the only thing that could top that clip is that story
Has a baleen whale ever been kept in captivity for any length of time? If so was it successfully released or did it die?
there have been several instances of young baleen whales running afoul of something and being captured for rehabilitation, yes! they were mostly gray whales.
which makes sense, gray whales are slow enough to get caught in the first place and hardy enough to not immediately stress themselves to death over being poked and put in a tank (as long as hundreds of pounds of delicious shellfish are on offer, anyway)
none of them were ever kept very long, they were rehabilitated to a healthy weight and then released. (healthy weight for a juvenile gray whale is almost 20,000 lbs. BIG baby)
this lives in the post now
