Sometimes I think that Durge's verbal outbursts are a TBI symptom and they didn't do that before*, other times I like to lean on Durge as essentially a divine servitor without mortal origin and imagine that they did and also expand on it: occasionally they just go into altered states of awareness for varying lengths of time (a few seconds, a tenday) and start rambling prophecies of violence and death, don't worry about it. The other priests find this very exciting, what with it being the voice of Bhaal delivering divine knowledge unto the mortal world to be decyphered. They have scriptures recording them. And many theological debates involving knives.

(And these little moments don't stop if they reject Bhaal, Jergal's divine essence just makes them mildly less violent and more fatalistic prophecies about endings and death).

*I also like to imagine that occasionally they're delivering their declarations of violent doom in Infernal (since that'd be the 'holy language' of the Bhaalist faith, much as with Banites and Loviatans and etc) or Dark Speech. Maybe Supernal, but in that case it'd just be universally understood.

im currently writing/editing the next chapter of my durgewyll fic and im pretty sure i already posted an earlier version of this passage for a wip wednesday but anyways here it is again but with More Edits!

From this close, Wyll could see flecks of dying sunlight caught in his deep brown eyes; there was a certain delicacy to his features that reminded Wyll of one of his father’s paintings in the estate. Adoratio, Father called it. He’d stared at it for hours, studying the image of a man on his knees before an unseen gentlewoman, perhaps to take her hand in marriage, though Father maintained it depicted an act of repentance. Even now, the brushstrokes remained perfect in his memory: the broad smear of his nose, the upturned sweep of his thick lips (surely joyful at her acceptance, young Wyll had insisted, and still he believed it), the sturdy geometries of his jaw. How easily Ajax’s face overlaid that remembered image, the few differences only enhancing his allure. A long scar fissuring his sun-soaked skin, running from cheek to jaw. A wayward strand of pink swaying with each steady breath, and Wyll fought the bewildering urge to brush it away, if only to tuck it behind his ear.
