Ok, I've been thinking a little bit, and I think I have the basic idea for a LiS inspired TBoL story. Tell me what you guys think.
Maria returns to San Angel after graduating high school. She reunites with her childhood friend Joaquin and tries to get along with her father.
She meets Manolo and they have an instant connection and chemistry. Manolo says that his mother Carmen was killed when he was young under mysterious circumstances. By some situation I haven't thought of yet, Maria and Manolo discover that she has wind powers and Manolo reveals that he's a mind reader. Together, they help Maria understand and control her powers while also solving the mystery around Carmen's death.
I'm still figuring out the details, but those are the main bits. Let me know what you think. I also put up a new one shot in Days of Nights that I think a lot of you are gonna have fun with 😏
SO Ive seen several people say that Haida and Retsuko's relationship dident work this season due to their poor relationship skills and miscommunication. But I would argue that their relationship does work.
It works in that even after the two-way lying and miscomunication and tax fraud, their relationship still stands.
You guys have to remember that being in a relationship -- a true relationship -- is a big fucking hurdle to jump through. Yes, Retsuko had been in other relationships before, but this the first true relationship that has had any weight to it.
Throughout the 4 seasons we saw Retsuko's other relationships crumble to dust over the tiniest things.
Retsuke was a unmotivated wet napkin of a person and when he didn't commit to the relationship that Retsuko wanted, Retsuko told him and broke it off.
Tadano was a good egg, but Retsuko ultimately discovered that both Tadano and herself had conflicting future relationship goals --Retsuko wanted to get married and start a family, but Tadano wasn't interested in getting tied down (he said so himself, he though that marriage was a waste of time, and that hurt retsuko because one of her dreams through the entire series was to get married and settledown to have a family)
and the same thing happens with Haida and Inui. Like, they were a very cute couple and possibly would have gone somewhere, but Haida's feelings for Retsuko would have (for lack of a better word) stained the relationship. Inui saw how much he loved Retsuko, and very maturely, decided that she couldn't compete for his affections. So like, she cuts it off before it begins. Like, knowing that your relationship would have gone down hill due to uncontrolable outside influences and then cutting it off before it could get worse is a mature thing to do.
Also I've seen someone say that Retsuko was passive about the entire tax fraud and I'm like???? she wasn't???? She knew very well that her boyfriend was keeping secrets from her, and when those secrets were confirmed that her boyfriend was doing company-wide tax fraud for the CEO, instead of taking it to the Japanese national news, she formulated a mission impossible heist plan with all of her co-workers in order to get the information needed to confirm that they were infact commiting tax fraud in order to get the CEo fired and then had a talk with her boyfriend about how what he was doing was wrong. Like, she took the step and called him out and that untimely gave Haida the confidence to step up to the CEO and call him out on his bullshit????
Like how is that passivity????
And everyone needs to know that Haida in the thick of it as well. Like his paranoia and fear wasn't something that came out of no where. Hadia said so himself that anyone else in the company had a fair chance of getting fired due to budget cuts and low profits, and so the pressure to succeed was growing. People were getting pressured to quiet left and right thanks to the new CEO. Mr. Tone was demoted then forced to quiet a job he really loved; Kabai was forced to quit as well from a job she really liked because everyone was making her feel worthless for having a family to take care of instead of being at work.
and when Haida showed that he had a good chance with his new accounting software to succeed and NOT get fired, he took that chance to rub elbows with the new CEO. And not only that, but thanks to the new CEO, the company was falling behind and had to commit tax fraud in order to stay afloat, and again DUE TO NOT WANTING TO BE FIRED AND DEEMED WORTHLESS TO THOSE AROUND HIM, Haida took up tax fraud in order to survive. On top of wanting the praise that he so badly needed. There were multiple times where Haida laments that Retsuko is on a whole new other level than him, and that he feels like he just one of the fanboys in the crowd. In the season, when he sees that Retsuko has restarted her screaming channel and has started growing back her following, that feeling comes back. He really does love Retsuko so much and wants to be where Retsuko is so badly but he feels as if none of what he's done in life fits with Retsuko's life.
Like, for christ sake, Retsuko is the ex-girlfriend to the aggretsuko version of Mark Zuckerberg who also one-hit-wonder pop idle star who nearly got murdered by an incel and Haida is a wanna-be British rock band bass guitar player who does accounting by day who still lives in his parents' apartment complex rent free (lucky bastard)
and on top of all that, there was Retsuko's lies. Like, his suspicion and jealousy was not unjustified??? Like, wouldn't you feel the same way if you saw your significant other lied in front of your face about what you were doing, arrive home in the fancy-ass limo of their ex-boyfriend and then notice that said ex-boyfriend FLIRTED BACK AT HER????? on top of using the pet nickname that he gave her when they were dating???? Like him calling Tadano out on his not-really-flirting-but-kind-of-is-flirting-flirting was no unjustified????
AND EVEN AFTER ALL OF THAT MESS OF DRAMA, THE END OF SEASON 4 CONFIRMS (though some would argue that its very ambiguous) THAT THEY'RE STILL IN A RELATIONSHIP. EVEN AFTER THE TAX FRAUD AND MISCOMUNICATION AND NEARLY THROWING YOUR SIGNIFICANT OUT THE WINDOW, THEY'RE STILL GOING OUT.
this is what Gori's soulmate app said about Haida and Retsuko. Even after so much shit, they're able to keep going to work on each other.
Aggrettsuko has stated that multiple times that romance is not a fairy tale, and that it takes work and that you may not get it right on the first time or the third time, but its good to keep working at it.
A while ago I hosted a poll of various TADC related things I wanted to draw, and what you guys wanted to see next. I did not expect a short, informational, comic involving Theater Etiquette to come in 2nd place. So here it is!!
This was meant to be simple, but, as expected, I went waaaay overboard lol. I'm actually super happy with how it turned out! This is one of the few pieces I am actually okay with you reposting to other sites WITH CREDIT. So go ham! Spread the word!
(Please do not repost to DA, because I have already posted it there)

I feel like I'm officially a part of the Life is Strange Fandom since I'm actually willing to spend money on the games instead of watching gameplays. You already know, this had my gears turning in my head and I have a new fanfic idea!
Mexopolis characters in a Life is Strange inspired world!
For those who don't know how the games work: in almost every Life is Strange game, there's at least one character (usually the lead) who has some sort of super natural power (the past games have had reversal of time, telekinesis, can see/feel people's emotions, and shapeshifting). Most of the games also have a mystery element to them. They're basically teen dramas with a supernatural twist.
In my head, I feel like there'd be a mystery surrounding the death of Manolo's mom, Carmen. And the games haven't included romance of two supernatural people, so I'll be leaving that to Manolo and Maria =3. I really want to include the other characters from mexopolis work somehow, and maybe I'll include more characters with powers.
So question of the day: what kind of powers do you think the mexopolis characters would have in this type of story? I think either Manolo or Maria would be a mind reader, but idk which. There doesn't seem to be any standard for the type of powers the games use, so it looks like a free for all.
So... my mind has once again decided to run wild. My love for the Life Is Strange games has resurfaced and I have a very strong idea for a Life Is Strange inspired story with the mexopolis characters (reference separate post).
Problem is, I have so many ideas for stories now (particularly in the mexopolis fandom) that I almost have no idea what to do with them. I want to give them a chance to flourish, but I also feel I need to drop some of them.
Of course, some ideas are more fleshed out than others. Here are a list of ideas I'm not backing out of:
El Dorado x Maya and the Three
Greek mythology retellings (Hades and Persephone, Eros and Psyche, currently working on The Odyssey)
Pirate au
I Am Dragon inspired story
Modern au (Sun Valley Flowers) spin off
Life Is Strange story
Over the Garden Wall inspired story
Now here are the ideas that I'm starting to feel a bit on the fence on:
Mashle inspired au (I wrote a prologue chapter for this)
Gender bent Princess Bride
Miraculous Ladybug inspired au
Like I said, I really want to give these stories a chance, but this list is way too long. Not to mention, I have stories for other fandoms that I'm writing for right now. I'm not sure how to go about this and any ideas of writers going through this would be very helpful. Cause I also have some fun ideas in each story I really would like to explore.
So... I've been watching a lot of Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends lately and I am in love with this world. Something that I started to wonder is if there has ever been an Imaginary friend x human romance in this world.
I'm already thinking of a potential short story idea for this, but I almost don't want to engage with it... not because it's freaky, but because I'm busy with other fics and junk. At the very least, could anyone recommend a good Foster's Home fic? Preferably with Wilt? Or maybe a Mac x Goo story?
Or if you would want me to write about this silly love story in mind, then let me know if you're interested. This is how my brain operates ok?!
Rose Gold's Adventure (ToA) - Astheworldcaves4 - Tales of Arcadia (Cartoons) [Archive of Our Own]
An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
I feel like I don't talk about my Tales of Arcadia stuff on this app enough, so here is my completed OC story. I really want to revisit this world in the future, so for those who don't know, please read about Rose Gold Waters, who I miss dearly.
That time when I yap about stuff that I'm obsessed over and y'all have to put up with my nonsense 😅.
This is something I've been wanting to do for a while, and I finally got around to doing it. I absolutely LOVE these two (probably less than all my other Mareach lovers on here, but I digress), and I got a ton to share about all of them :3
Basically, this is me taking all the headcanons I have of these two idiots, blending them in with the movie, and going insane for several minutes with an essay of how and why these two are attracted/attached to each other. So... if that's not what you came here for, you're free to go lol.
Trust me. I'm not holding back here.
So, because this is really long, I'll be cutting this up into two parts. Starting with: Mario.
Starting off, Mario has a lot of insecurities. A LOT. He has a lot of things many back in Brooklyn would have considered "undesirable." Just as a few examples:
He's not conventionally attractive by typical standards.
His family isn't very well off.
He comes from a VERY Italian family and takes great pride in their culture.
He works a job many consider "disgusting"
He's trans
He has both ADHD and BPD
He struggles with academics (reading and math especially)
Needless to say, based on everything those around him said to him, and his own insecurities getting to him... Mario doesn't see himself as someone Peach would ever be associated with.
However, Mario is not the type to voice these kinds of concerns. In his mind, he has to be the bigger person, so he shoves them all down HARD. As such, he sometimes comes across as fairly chill or even nonchalant when, in fact, the opposite is true.
Failed a plumbing job? Eh, it's fine; just deal with it later.
Screwed up at a work meeting? Whatever, he didn't like that job anyway; the pay was shit.
Someone outright says they don't like him? Cool, he didn't need them anyway; he has Luigi, and that's all he needs.
The idea of telling anyone these kinds of things is way too foreign to him. His biggest fear is being rejected by someone he cares about and being left to deal with the aftermath of it all by himself. So, he takes that opportunity away before anyone else can do so.
That's not to say he's an asshole; quite the opposite!
He's one of the nicest people you could ever meet (so long as you don't give him a reason to hate you, of course). He was always the one who did odd-jobs just to make himself useful. That way, others wouldn't see him as "less than" or "small."
Essentially, he overcompensates, not even caring how much of a toll it takes on him.
His friendly exterior is his way of appearing "normal" in front of others; he's nice, but... not really so much to where you're all that close with him aside from a friendly acquaintance. The number of people who are at that level is really slim. Except for one person:
Luigi.
Out of all of his friends, Luigi is the only one who really knows Mario (understandably since they're literally grown up together). Luigi's seen Mario at his worst spirals and insecurities, and can immediately clock when he's at the start of one.
When Mario's around other people, he puts on the happy mask. He's a massive extrovert, and you wouldn't know by looking at him that he even has insecurities. Luigi, meanwhile, is quite the opposite. If anything, he rarely speaks whenever Mario's in control, except to add his own sentiment (partially from insecurity over his stutter, and because he's shy).
When they're alone, however...
Mario tends to withdraw. Having to constantly keep up the appearance that he's "fine" really takes a toll on him most days. Thus, when he's alone, everything he's felt throughout the day comes flooding back.
And Luigi is, as you can probably assume, the opposite.
For that reason, he's the first to notice when Mario starts to develop feelings for Peach. At first, it was little things when they were alone together; Mario would ONLY talk about the princess, he was actually smiling a lot more when he was alone, and one time Luigi even found a love letter that he'd written (he trashed it).
While that was big enough on its own, Luigi soon noticed that Mario showed signs even in public.
To most people, Mario's expression is really hard to read (mainly due to him always smiling, but also because his eyebrows make him look angry). However, Luigi would say otherwise, as long as you know when to look.
For instance, he began noticing that Mario would stim with his hands more often around Peach, even when he tried to hide it. His face lit up whenever she started speaking. And even his voice changed entirely, becoming a lot more awkward and formal.
That finally convinced Luigi that his big bro had it bad.
He waited a while to confront Mario, even though he already knows he would deny it upfront... and he does.
It took some time, but eventually Mario relented, finally telling Luigi about everything he'd been feeling towards Peach. Most of it was stuff the younger brother already assumed just from knowing Mario:
He didn't think he was attractive enough.
He didn't want to ruin the friendship between them.
He was scared that by loving her, he'd idolize her.
He was scared she'd reject him.
He was embarrassed about his work compared to her.
He wasn't sure she liked him back (Luigi nearly had an aneurysm because it was so obvious to him--)
He didn't know how he was going to tell her.
He was worried about how he should treat her.
However, the most surprising one was something Luigi could have never anticipated.
See... in Mario's eyes, Peach was absolutely perfect.
She didn't have any flaws as far as he could tell, even when she outright told him about the things she didn't like about herself (not knowing her birthday, disliking crowds, feeling guilty that she needed to be alone after every royal meeting), he still saw her as perfect.
And therein lie the problem.
Peach could like him, maybe even be friends with him... but that was it, as far as he was concerned. Someone as beautiful and perfect as her deserved only the best the world could offer. She was a woman of status and regality. She had far more important things to concern herself with aside from love from someone she didn't deserve.
That was the reason he loved her.
Perfection.
... but he was scared that it could never go farther beyond that.
She was too perfect, in his eyes.
And in due time... she would forget about him.
And with her being engaged to Haru (at the time of meeting her)... it seemed like a very real possibility.
As always, Luigi did his best to keep him from thinking like that, telling him that any girl in the kingdom would be lucky to have him as their partner because he was Super Mario. That, alone, was reason enough, at least to him.
And even though Mario heard the words, Luigi could tell he didn't quite believe them, as always.
Mario always had a way of letting anything good slipping his mind when he became fixated on everything he didn't have, or he began to fear when Peach would forget him altogether. Luigi could tell Mario that he loved him, as well as Peach, until his voice grew hoarse.
But as soon as Mario's own brain caught up to him, it was a losing battle.
It's not that he didn't want to believe anything Luigi said. He was simply far too fixated on the idea that no one could love him, so he preemptively prepared himself for "inevitable" rejection.
However, that didn't mean he avoided Peach altogether.
In fact, quite the opposite.
Even if Mario denied himself from loving her the way he wanted, he went above and beyond to show her the love she deserved (as a "friend" of course).
One thing he loved about her was simply how fascinated she was by anything he'd consider normal. Even something as simple as "going out" was an adventure in her mind. As much as he wanted to give her that, however, there was Toadsworth to consider.
And... he wasn't quite as flexible.
Of course, that didn't stop Mario from making Peach little gifts from his own world (some with Luigi's help, of course). On her "birthday," he made her the parasol she still uses. And it only got bigger from there.
He repainted the stained-glass window once the colors began to fade.
He took over some of the duties in Toad Town whenever she couldn't (either due to other plans or her own personal things).
He'd come over to visit her whenever she got sick; sometimes even bringing along soup (Luigi did that part).
He stayed with her when she expressed her dissatisfaction with the arranged marriage, even though she knew it would benefit the kingdom most (as much as it hurt, admittedly).
He'd sneak in through the windows whenever he knew she'd had a rough day, just to check in on her.
Hell, at one point, he even considered getting her a cat because she had expressed an interest in one! That didn't end up happening as he lacked the money to do so, but still. He came very close.
In Mario's mind, the best thing you can do for someone, is show your love through your actions, whether you're a friend or a partner. Words could never be enough to tell Peach that he loved her. And simply staying beside her felt like it was never enough either. So... he did the only thing he knew he could best do by giving her pieces of himself.
Eventually, he did end up confessing to her, though it took a lot to do so. He still struggles to believe she could love him, but he's never once regretted telling her.
Saying "I love you" to her is always the hardest part.
Even the day he confessed it, his chest felt tight, and his eyes welled with tears... he finds it embarrassing, so he uses it sparingly. He'd rather use his actions than his words anyway.
He loves her more than life itself. Many times at night, he sometimes imagines her before him, living together with him until their last breath. Whenever he can't sleep, he thinks of her, and that's nearly enough to send him drifting off.
He no longer sees her as perfect, either, which he recognized as a flaw on his part soon after.
She was never this immortal goddess he envisioned her to be (as much as he liked to believe she was)... she was simply Peach.
She was the one person he could be himself, fully, without judgement. He'd shown her his worst moments, and she never once blamed him. Even if he did act hurtful (a few times, he yelled at her, but it never went further beyond that), she was honest about it, but still reassured him that it never changed her opinion of him. Plus, he always made an effort to rectify his mistakes... so why would she punish him?
That was the exact reason he soon made the decision to call her his wife, in due time.
