There is this character that I like. I love the arc that him and his family had. They were a dramatic train wreck, and I love dramatic train wrecks with tragedy.
However, this character did absolutely terrible things to his family. I see this and still doesn't take away from the fact that I like his character. This is all well and good, but this fandom is one of the most toxic ones I have ever seen.
In the fandom you're pretty much on either one side or the other. You either absolutely adore him, or you hate his guts and actively think he should die and think that his fans actively endorse what this he did.
This has made a really toxic environment where it makes me so nervous to say anything about any character even remotely related to him. I love the fandom and want to stay there but it's a bit exhausting.
I've seen this in so many fandoms, and I wish that more people would understand that just because you like a character doesn't mean you endorse their actions. You can like a character that does the most awful things and still appreciate their writing, their design, their character dynamics, how they are in an AU or you just think they are neat.
Anyways- my little rant is over. Phew- I've been keeping this bottled up for a long time.
Speak your truth! (That I didnāt read)
