What's interesting is that as he gets up, his face his stoic. He's showing no emotion and no body language quirks as he assessing the situation. He still does not look like a hog you'd want to poke fun of right now as he'd destroy you.
Then immediate change to anger by clenching his teeth. He does this more often than not.
Sonic's eyes are wide. This is Sonic's true emotion seeping out. You only see this look when he's completely shocked or surprised by something. Sonic also refuses to fight Tails and tries to reason with him.

I don't know if any of you remember me saying that Sonic is lost without Tails. People think Tails is the one to rely on Sonic, but this expression just shows that Sonic relies so much on Tails and doesn't know how to snap his little bro back to reality. Also, sad eyes again.
Quizzical look from Sonic. He also doesn't interrupt Tails or explains what happens. Interestingly, Sonic continues to hold onto Tails, he's not trying to prop Tails up and backing away from his personal space. Remember in Forces where he holds Tails from afar?
But he continues to hold on to Tails in Colours. This coming from a character who hates touchy feely gestures.
Sonic has only JUST let go of Tails at this point. Tails getting injured really gets to Sonic.
Is that a nervous laugh? I know the dialogue is awful, but it can't be that much of a whiplash where one minute Sonic's serious and the next, let's have a laugh! My theory is he's covering up the tense moment with a light hearted moment. He's done this in past games before.
Sonic being a drama hog. Although he's the oldest and able to save others, Sonic is quite immature deep down. I suppose he has to be when the world rests squarely on his shoulders and the amount of crap he's endured.
