Police fear up to 10 teenagers may have been involved in Ee Lee's brutal murder
They know who did it but no one has been arrested. I just know this was apart from misogyny definitely racially charged.
10 teenagers sexually abused and killed a grown woman. 10 guys who were still living at their mothers felt entitled and hateful enough to do this. I have no words.
For those wondering - her killers have been found and were sentenced last year.
It doesn’t say anything about the other nine boys who watched and encouraged this horrific crime and if they faced any criminal charges. Which is insane to me - i thought in the usa anyone who is present in a homicide and not attempting to help the victim is also charged with murder?
CAUTION - graphic and disturbing content, please read with care.
Definitely racially motivated, they used anti-Asian slurs during the attack and this was in 2020, when we saw a huge rise in anti-Asian hate due to COVID. This poor women this is unconscionable. I bet they let the witnesses walk because they were minors, but they definitely should’ve been locked up too.
one of my friends from high school who was with a bunch of different older (35-45ish) men when she was like 18-19 would talk about all the "bitchy" looks she got from older women when out in town with the men and she would laugh at how "jealous" they were and cockily say "it's not my fault that I'm young and hot lmao". and yeah. this is exactly it.
Men attributing things to women hating each other to avoid the reality that they're the ones who are hated, typical
friendly reminder that the Abrahamic God never actually said that Eve couldn’t eat from the Tree of Knowledge, he only told Adam not to eat from it (Gen 2:17). perhaps the entire reason the tree was in the garden in the first place was so that Eve could eat from it & become wise (why else would it be in the garden if no one could eat from it??) but Adam couldn’t be trusted with that wisdom, so when Adam ate from it, that’s when all hell broke loose. yes, Eve eventually found out about the command (that’s why she told the serpent “God said not to eat from it”), but who’s to say that Adam didn’t tell her not to eat from the tree bc he was jealous????? also a friendly reminder that Eve didn’t “deceive” Adam, he was deceived by the snake. Adam was literally standing right there when the snake starting talking to Eve (Gen 3:6: he was “with her”). so it’s either he was also deceived by the snake, or Adam is evil, because he allowed Eve to eat from the tree & didn’t stop her from doing it.
no. seriously. take a look at Genesis.
So much misogyny has been spewed for the past several centuries because people blamed Eve when she really didn’t do anything wrong. But the Bible kinda predicted that, right? It predicted men would blame women for everything, when it said that Adam instantly blamed Eve.
In The Alphabet Vs. the Goddess, Leonard Shlain writes an interesting criticism of the origin story found in Genesis. He writes,
“Of the three, Eve’s punishment was the most severe. She alone, among the planet’s myriad creatures, would bear children with great difficulty and high mortality, and she lost her freedom permanently. The Old Testament dictates that masters must emancipate their slaves after seven years of servitude (Deut. 15:12) but women are to serve a lifetime of subjugation. This sentence appears excessive in light of the circumstances under which Adam and Eve disobeyed God. Eve’s decision to transgress was made before she had eaten the magic fruit, when she could not have have known the difference between good and evil. A few passages later, Cain kills Abel. Cain knew good from evil (due to his mother’s actions), yet Yahweh treats him with the unmistakable compassion of a parent disciplining a wayward but beloved child. Yahweh banishes Cain, but when the youth protests, Yahweh reconsiders and marks Cain’s forehead to protect him from harm. In these two morality tales less than one page apart, Yahweh judges murder by a man a less egregious crime than disobedience by a woman.”
And later,
“Had Eve let her fear of retribution overcome her desire to know, then the travail and triumph called the human experiment would have never begun. Curiosity is indispensable for the acquisition of wisdom, the search for which is at the heart of the Jewish culture that arose from the Old Testament. Yet in the very first interaction between mortals and their deity, Yahweh branded female curiosity the greatest sin. Much later, in the New Testament, there would be a listing of the seven deadly sins - curiosity is not among them.”
“I expect you to know that I am a woman because I am wearing a dress” is apparently a progressive statement
Here I thought you shouldn't assume people's gender
"30 years ago people would've made negative assumptions about me so by that logic I need you to make positive assumptions about me now" what on earth....
Who told him he has good fashion sense
Nobody, ever.
But also 30 yars ago was 1990. Kurt Cobain wore dresses and no one thought he was a woman or transsexual (that was the word 30 years ago.)
Dresses
Long hair
Painted nails
Behold! A woman!
Are....
Aren't they currently transing Kurt on twitter????? Like 😭😭😭😭
There's an irony in people who self define by their purchasing habits would latch on to one of consumer culture's fatalities who was against nearly everything they espouse. The whole point of Cobain wearing dresses was that it was nonchalant. It wasn't supposed to be an identifier, the whole point was a dress is an item of clothing devoid of intrinsic meaning.
film about a group of men getting into shenanigans= “comedy” film about a group of women getting into shenanigans= “chick flick”
film about a friendship between two men= “buddy flick” film about a friendship between two women= “chick flick”
emotional film about father/son relationships= “drama” emotional film about mother/daughter relationships= “chick flick”
film about a young man finding identity= “coming of age” film about a young woman finding identity= “chick flick”
The important thing to remember is that, when Shrek came out in 2001, its subversive, ironical tone was groundbreaking because it was up against a Disney machine that played everything completely straight (notwithstanding "Emperor's New Groove", which came out a few months earlier). Then Disney itself bought into that tone and hegemonized it, and now, movies that actually take their own fucking characters and premises seriously feel like a breath of fresh air.
We celebrate David Bowie, Freddie Mercury and Prince for their gender-nonconforming amazingness as we should, but let us not forget
Annie Lennox
Grace Jones
Sinead O‘Connor
Dolores O‘Riordan
Patti Smith
Tracy Chapman
Please add if you like, i do not own the photos
We should not celebrate Pedo Bowie
Tracy Chapman and Patti Smith are musical angels from another dimension, I have trouble even expressing how much I love them ♥
May I add Joan Jett?
Thinking about how hard it was to get accurate sex ed info for lesbians when I first came out and how much harder it is now that lesbian is a meaningless word. I want to know if I only have sex with women (no TIMs) what my actual risk of certain stds, especially hpv, is but there are almost no studies that looks at women who only have sex with women and now I have to use word salad “vulva haver having sexual encounters that don’t involve a penis” or whatever.
Compliments from fellow women are so much better because our sisters don't expect anything in turn and we don't act like we did anyone a favor by doing so. It's just a compliment, a nice one that actually means something and warms our hearts.
Men always act as if they nourished our souls and gave our lives meaning by positively commenting on our physical appeal and so we owe them appreciation, affection, love and our bodies.
For real. If a woman tells me she likes how I've done my hair, I know she actually likes it and is giving me a compliment. She doesn't expect me to give her my number or go to coffee with her, we're both going to go about our days feeling lighter.
A man tells me he likes anything about my appearance and I know it's about to be followed up with "can I get your number?"
This reminds me of when I was waiting on the train and had a mask on and this dude came up to me and since he couldn't see half my face he said "Wow. Your eyebrows are very expressive. You look smart."
Then asked for my number and when I said no thanks and he was all "You're not gonna get to know me?"
No. Now go away.
Taliban has announced that women in Afghanistan will be stoned to death in public for adultery.
The Afghan Taliban’s supreme leader, Mullah Hibatullah Akhundzada, has issued a disturbing proclamation, vowing to implement brutal punishments against women in public. In a chilling voice message broadcasted on state television, Akhundzada directly addressed Western officials, dismissing concerns about violating women’s rights by stoning them to death.
"You say it’s a violation of women’s rights when we stone them to death," Akhundzada stated. "But we will soon implement the punishment for adultery. We will flog women in public. We will stone them to death in public," he declared, marking his most severe rhetoric since the Taliban seized control of Kabul in August 2021.
These grim statements, purportedly from Akhundzada, who has seldom been seen in public except for a few outdated portraits, emanate from Afghanistan’s state TV, now under Taliban control. Akhundzada is believed to be located in southern Kandahar, the Taliban's stronghold. Despite early assurances of a more moderate regime, the Taliban swiftly reverted to harsh public penalties reminiscent of their previous rule in the late 1990s, including public executions and floggings. The United Nations has vehemently criticised these actions, urging the Taliban to cease such practices.
In his message, Akhundzada asserted that the women's rights advocated by the international community contradicted the Taliban’s strict interpretation of Islamic Sharia law. Akhundzada emphasised resilience among Taliban fighters, urging them to oppose women's rights persistently. "I told the Mujahedin that we tell the Westerners that we fought against you for 20 years and we will fight 20 and even more years against you," he stated.
His remarks have sparked outrage among Afghans, with many calling for increased international pressure on the Taliban.
"The money that they receive from the international community as humanitarian aid is just feeding them against women," lamented Tala, a former civil servant from Kabul.
"As a woman, I don’t feel safe and secure in Afghanistan. Each morning starts with a barrage of notices and orders imposing restrictions and stringent rules on women, stripping away even the smallest joys and extinguishing hope for a brighter future," she added.
"We, the women, are living in prison," Tala emphasised, "And the Taliban are making it smaller for us every passing day."
Taliban authorities have also barred 330,000 girls from returning to secondary school for the third consecutive year. University doors were closed to women in December 2022 and participation in the workforce is heavily restricted.
