Brimstone and ball gowns ||• OPEN•||
Nimue had been working on her sword, her skin pale from putting as much of her magic as she could into the blade to dispell other magic. Mab had been thinking she was making a special weapon for her but this would be the key to all of their escape the moment it was done.
Nimue worked tirelessly on the blade ready to make their escape and finally stop mab once and for all.
The guards watched as she worked tirelessly, keeping an ever watching eyes on the black smith as she worked and nimue was fine with that as long as they didn't interfere with her enchantments before she finished them. As the blade was nearly finished she heard one of her guards approach her as she mixed the final potion
"wait a second," he started as the liquid in her glass turned purple "hey isn't that-"
Nimue didn't give him time to answer as she slammed her elbow back into his helmet knocking him back before she lifted the sword from it's place and thrust the holy harshly into his stomach. The second guard quickly got his wits about him and charged forward as nimue used the blade to slice her chains and parry the blow that came at her quickly enough. The commotion would no doubt bring more guards and here she had though the distraction of the ball would be perfect for her to hide, evidently not. The guard knocked her feet out from under her and knocked her flat on her back nimue was momentarily dazed before she caught up with what had happened as he grabbed her by the scruff if her shirt and threw her into her work table
"you wicked little-"
Nimue grabbed her final potion though it wasn't ready yet and cursed as she threw it in the guards face and ran as he screamed in pain and rage as she ran as fast as she could to only to have her misfortune to run straight into a small cluster of guards waiting.
Her luck was definitely not with her that night as the guards surrounded and captured her and one went to go get the queen from her ball as nimue was once more secured in her chains.
Mab was enjoying the ball, her citizens were surprisingly cheerful in the party and knowing that Harper was home to be their next queen should anything happen to mab, that was until w guard approached her and softly told her the news
"the sorceress lied my queen, she created a blade to dispell your enchantments" he informed her mab seethed before she sighed
"bring her to the throne room and I'll deal with her there don't let this ruin the ball"
Lottie chuckled as she stood and hugged him
"thank ya Vlad, olga's apprentice is one of the ones who helped them get there. Our friend mister masters is also there though he seems a tad lost I'm sure Titania will keep her eyes out for him for us" lottie told him she gestured for them to follow as she entered the house smelling sweet of baked goods as always, lottie always had something cooking, figuratively and literally
Olga came down looking ever so much like a modern Elvira. “Oh it is our darling vampire King! How are you,” she moved into the room with such grace. “You even brought, Nimue of the lake what brings you to our world?”
"one wizard who is in danger of feeling my wrath" nimue said lottie smiled and kissed her wife
"well don't you look lovely today" lottie told her she heard Cerberus whimper and smiled scooping a dog treat from a jar
"sit" she commanded the pupper watching as he obeyed and she tossed it to him

MOTHER NATURES NOT A NECROMANCER (MULTI)
Layla has been hearing the news talk about a super blood moon coming up, it was rare and beautiful but to her it was pretty boring. Full moons meant lots of crazy though so that meant good tips at the club and probably a lot of jobs in between for the next couple of days.
That morning things went as usual for a still mostly insomniac detective (she slept better since Vlad had been brought back but her body was still so used to running on such little sleep) everything had been fine other than a tingle in her hands but she chalked that up to bean probably having slept awkwardly on her at one point before he had abandoned her for Arthur.
She made her way to the kitchen and started making here coffee at first she didn't notice the leaves sprouting from the apples that she had to move to get the cream or that some of the coffee grounds has begun to form into beans again. No it was much to early for that type of observation. It was mostly starting to notice when she went to the backyard to sit on the stairs, she noted that the grass was talked despite having it been cut just a day or two before she didn't notice the porch suddenly growing bark where her feet had touched no what she did notice was when she touched the rail and suddenly two branches about the size of her each suddenly sprouted and blocked her path knocking her over as she screamed
What the actual hell was happening?!
Aziraphale sighed a little and shook his head
"you promised you'd stop after they were born" aziraphale said warning him as he helped Felicity with her coat and handed her rex
"drive slowly dear there are all kinds of lunatics about today"
“I know but if you had seen Jane the other day you would have done the same and then I got to thinking what was the best age for Felicity to have friends and I decided that it would be good for them to catch up enough to go to school with her when it comes time.” They ruffled Felicity’s hair.
Aziraphale shook his head a little bit but didn't say anything else
"the next time one of our friends have kids you're not allowed to mess with their aging process ok?" Aziraphale warned him he actually liked babies, he missed baby warlock not that he didn't love the littles in their lives now
“Fine, fine, I won’t swear on hell itself I won’t mess with the ages. Or any more now that they are of age to play with Feli here.”
Aziraphale nodded a bit before he helped buckle Felicity into her seat in the back of the Bentley noticing the James bond bullet decals that had been put on the car seat as well he chuckled but didn't say anything as he tied a piece of string around rex's waist to be his "seatbelt" as well
“Alright everyone secure?” Crowley asked as they drove out of the driveway to where the Shakespeare’s lived, not too far actually but not so close one would want to walk.
"ready!" Felicity said happily as aziraphale also buckled himself and prayed crowley for once listened to the speed limit and if not that he could pull a few quick miracles along the way
Crowley drove just at the speed limit but clearly was going as fast as they reasonably could. Arriving at the Shakespeare’s they pulled in. “Right so I don’t know what awaits for us in there.”
Felicity was already wiggling in her seat excited and already unbuckled rex aziraphale wasn't bothered
"my dear we had to have a baby angel and baby kit running around for a day or so I think we can handle this" aziraphale assured him as he got Felicity out of her seat and she skipped towards the house and knocked
Will opened the door with a sigh of relief, “Bonjour!” He greeted her. “Come in, come in,” he patted her on the back to usher her in. “I have been having quite the day as has Jane. The children have decided to lock up Arthur and Godwin, and won’t sit still long enough to take their stabilizer.”
Lottie was on a chair trying to coax one of the little ones over tiger to take the bottle she had prepared Layla was trying to pick the lock for the bedroom
“When I first met her, I knew in a moment I would have to spend the next few days re-arranging my mind so there’d be room for her to stay.”

What the actual hell was happening?!
Layla looked and chuckled a bit
"thanks I needed that" Layla said to him "totally not fair to use the cuteness of your dogs against me though" she added teasingly
“Not against, for you. You need a pick me up and as soon as the stabilizer works I think some fuzz therapy from Cerberus is what the doctor has ordered.”
"I think a change of clothes is the first thing," Layla said to him chuckling "just want to get back in my PJs and actually relax" Layla said running her hands through her hair
“And then a cuddle with a puppy?” Drac insisted. “He does miss you, when I talk about you he gets excited. Probably because you spoil him. Not that I don’t.”
Layla laughed again and nodded
"yes, I miss that big lump too." Layla said she glanced at the store not seeing Arthur or Godwin "should we make sure they're not selling their souls or something?"
Godwin sold the memories from before he was three for the ingredients, ingredients like these were so rare they cost something more than just money on top of them. They took a moment to extract but for his friend he would do anything even remotely DND-Esq. exiting the shop with them.
Arthur got into the passenger seat, while Godwin drove. “We have them, not easy but purchased. Don’t worry no souls required just memories I didn’t know I had and the humble monetary cost.”
“All memories before the age of three.”
“None that I can remember, nor wish too,” Godwin assured. “Easily given. I have better memories now. Of better people.”
Layla felt terrible if anyone should have given them she should have not him, who knows what trouble she could have caused in that shoo though maybe they would have gotten a cheaper price
"I guess as long as Lottie can make the supressing potion" she said softly looking at her hands
“Hey! Hey! I’ll not have you getting upset it was a different price for either him or I. Mine was the less steep of a price and I paid it most willingly. Layla you are my friend and I damn well haven’t felt like a dnd character since the apocalypse I live for this shit.” He turned to look at her at the light. “You are my friend close to family, hell at this point you are, family makes sacrifices for those they care about. I didn’t tell you the price because I wanted to make you feel bad, I just was going to boast about how much it was like dnd.”
“She must be a Green Hag in disguise.”
“Or some other eldritch being.” Godwin said looking back at the light in time to see it turn green and continue onwards.
Layla couldn't help but smile a little and shake her head at her lovable nerds she wanted nothing more than to protect them, it made her wonder if Nikki would let her move in with her until she could find a place so they'd be safer
"I love you guys" Layla said smiling at them she couldn't help herself they were the only reason she wasn't tweaking out
“We love you!” All three said in unison as they parked in the Shakespeare’s driveway. Drac chuckled and grabbed the ingredients on the way out of the car. “I’ll take these to Lottie once you have downed the potion you should be able to come inside.
Layla nodded a little
"I'll stay here, who knows what I'll bring firth walking around until I drink that stuff" Layla said after all the car was safe who knew what could happen if a leaf fell on her!
Drac hurried to Lottie handing over the ingredients, “there you are. Let me know if there is anything else I can do to help. I’m going to see if I can do anything for the tiny Vampires.”
Lottie took them and smiled at the ingredients
“Hope she didn’t charge you to much, Madame Margery can be a cruel bitch sometimes.” Lottie said shaking her head as she went back to her cauldron and started mixing Alec was passed out on the couch at this point
“Oh it might have a couple of side effects depending how much power she’s spent, poor alec had been shifting into a million different things before this so he’s exhausted” she added frowning at her poor son forced to stay home during all of this
“How’s your descendant doing? I’ve heard the poor dear has some issues with her powers to begin with so I can’t imagine she’s taking all this to well.”
“Memories before the age of three from Godwin, can’t imagine what those are used for but he gave them willingly.” Drac leaned against the counter out of the way. “She is doing as well as she is able, brought to life in her house anything that might have once been alive to the point of its’ original state. She has us to support her and I just hope we are able to help her get to some semblance of normalcy.”
lottie nodded a little bit and sighed
“Alright I’ll have this all whipped together in about fourty five minutes, once all is said and done I have cookies to make everyone a little happier too” she said smiling she hoped it would put a pep in everyones steps
“I’m going to go keep her company until then, she’s sitting in the car trying not to touch anything.” Drac went off to the car, “just fourth five minutes of sitting here waiting.” He chuckled softly. “I think I can keep you entertained for that long.”
Layla nodded a little bit and smiled, she’d finally gotten enough courage to start playing with her phone as well,
“You don’t have to if you don’t want to” Layla told him “I know you’re worried about Will and the littles, you should probably check on them”
“I am but you are my family and it is not out of some sense of obligation that I am here to be with you but because I love you and want to make sure you know that you and your sister come First. Family doesn’t leave family alone to face everything.” He looked at her, “besides someone has to make sure your ducks stay in a row.”
Layla chuckled a bit
“Well no problem there, Arthur has one in his room now and it’s hard to be in a row alone” Layla said trying to joke as best she could she leaned back against the seat and shut her eyes “Can I ask you something that you keep just between us?” she asked him not looking at him not wanting to see him judging her
“Nikki mentioned you bought your building, any chance you have a vacancy?” layla asked she hesitated a moment before she opened her eyes to gauge his reaction
“We do, is your renter giving you three a bad time?” Drac asked he perhaps knew deep down that she was trying to run away. However he didn’t want to necessarily call her out on it. “I wouldn’t mind having you closer.”
"no just... thinking about going out on my own" Layla said to him she could practically hear Nikki in the back of her head telling her that wasn't good for her mental health
"I don't want to tell the guys though, not until anything is set in stone you know?"
Drac looked at her, “I won’t say anything to them, but let me say to you that I think it would be better if you stayed. Take it from someone who did run because things went haywire. Don’t make the same mistake I made I am still reeling from the same mistake.”
Layla shrugged
"I'm not running away like you were, still want them to be my friends just....don't want to bother them anymore" Layla told him folding her arms tightly over herself as if for comfort
“That still sounds like running away,” Drac said leaning in and putting an arm over her. “I love you and you will always have a place in my home no matter what I call home.”
Layla smiled a little and nodded
"thank you" she said to him a few minutes later Lottie was there with cookies and potion Layla downed the potion and nearly choked on the flavor before chomping down on the cookies in an attempt to wash down the taste Lottie chuckled and held up two baby bottles full of the green liquid
"shall we check on the Shakespeare?"
“Thank you for that Lottie owe you and your wife a all expense paid date. Also I think that would be wise. I can only imagine the hell those little vamps are rasing with the encroaching blood moon.” Drac shook his head as he got out. “How are you feeling?” He asked Layla.
Layla took a moment to settle her churning stomach before she nodded, Lottie offered a small smile
"it's fine, first time ya take it is always the worst" Lottie assured her and Layla nodded as she got out of the car to go help
When they got inside the Shakespeare residence one could hear the mischievous laughter of a pair of vampire children who seemed to delight in making their parents chase them across the ceiling only once caught or cornered to appear below to start the chase again.
“Well they seem to have their hands full! Perhaps we should call in back up?” Drac looked to Lottie, “Godparents and others?”
Lottie shrugged a little bit her boys were trouble but Alec was the most magic troubles and he didn't really do this stuff ...turn into Olga and try to scan cookies yes but it this
"uhh sure I think we should find the parents first"
Will was found trying to get Kitty to come down. “Come on Cathrine we need to give you some stabilizer in order to keep you safe. After that play on the ceiling all you want.” Will was heard pleading in the room next over. This was met with peals of laughter from tiny Kitty and the sound of scampering away. Will sighed, “she takes after her name sake.”
Lottie went in to will and chuckled
"shall we call their godparents?" Lottie asked looking up at he ceiling she was so cute but clearly just as much trouble as kit

What the actual hell was happening?!
Layla didn't move she shook her head a little bit
"Vlad half our house is hard wood floors, how the hell am I supposed to even walk in my own house?! I already can't touch my banshees boyfriend to begin with what happens if I touch him now?!" Layla asked she ran her hand through her hair and honestly felt like she could cry right then and there she looked at Vlad her eyes swimming with tears that she still tried to hold back
"I don't want to hurt anyone"
Drac looked at her, “I know, I know more than anyone.” He reached out hesitating for a moment so as not to frighten her and gently took hold of her as he shifted to kneeling and pulled her into his arms carefully and gently making sure to not let her touch a surface that could start something. “Just cry, let open that flood gate things will be clearer after and we can think of solutions. For now let out all that you have been holding in. These arms are a safe space.” He murmured running a hand over her head and smoothing her hair. “We will find a solution and life will continue. I promise.”
Normally Layla would have laughed, normally she would have pushed him away and had some snarky comment
Today wasn't a normal day anymore though, Layla was in full panic mode and just let it all break. She let Vlad hold her and she sobbed
"why is it always me? Why doesn't freaky weird crap happen like this to anyone else?!"
Vlad bit his tongue to keep from mentioning the apocalypse or anything else, because that wasn’t what she wanted nor what she needed to hear. “We live in a strange world my dear, and I promise you there are others out there with just as unusual gifts or strange happenings. We will figure this out find a way to manage it and the next time you will be better prepared.” He was in full Dad mode and anyone could tell as he held her and comforted her. “Just know on the whole freaks of nature you aren’t alone, he kissed her forehead. I mean for God’s sake you have a Banshee for a significant other, an Anti-Christ for an Ancestor, and several other friends whom nature has decreed shall be forever freaky. I love your gift, and while your clients may not know how you figure out how their loved ones died they get so much closure that they never would have had without you. While I will admit this is way more than you have ever asked for or wanted know this, I will never abandon you. Nor will I leave you to the proverbial wolves, God Will is better at this than I am.” Vlad shook his head. “Just know that the point I’m trying to make is. You don’t have to face it alone and you have the support of several people who love you and want to help you however they can.”
Layla sniffled and wiped her eyes listening to him she shook her head
"when you had kids, your wife comforted them didn't she?" Layla managed to gently tease him she knew the sentiment but the phrasing? Well had she been a more insecure teenage girl again being called a freak if nature (and that had happened more often than you'd think at an asylum) she would have totally broke down.
"you're doing alright" she said with a small laugh wiping her eyes "just avoid terms like freak when you're comforting someone,"
Somehow she was surprisingly comforted by him in this instance she gathered herself and carefully pulled away taking a deep breath
"ok how do we fix this?"
Vlad nodded, “she was better at it than I was yes, I also haven’t parented in a long time or had to act like one.” He let out a giggle at her teasing brushing a tear from her cheek. “Ok let’s try plastic shoes first. Something tells me you need to have no skin contact with the word.” He looked to see Arthur peeking in. “Think you can find those?”
Arthur held up a finger then came back with a pair of her shoes that were definitely plastic. “These should do.”
“No jeans those are made of cotton, do you have any dresses made of polyester? Synthetic things, I have been doing reasearch I need to know this stuff with a high fashion expert fiancé.”
Layla tries to think as she tried to make herself presentable
"yea but I hate that dress" Layla muttered she had to wear it for a case to get into a private club that did themes every other month
"the blue one with the bow, and if any of you laugh at me in that dress I will make sure you regret it" Layla warned them she hated that dress
Vlad shook his head, “no one is going to laugh. We are all here to help and I’m sure you will look great.” They gave her some privacy to change.
Layla took the dress muttering curses under her breath as she did before she came out and looked at the three men
"not a word" she warned looking specifically to Godwin feeling like she had the least leverage over him to not laugh
Arthur walked over with a sheet of plastic, they had seen it done in a tv show and used it as a barrier allowing him to kiss her forehead. “You look adorable.” He told her.
“I agree. It looks wonderful on you.” Drac nodded.
Godwin said nothing. To busy trying to find something to eat that wasn’t made different by Layla’s errant Powers.
Layla laughed a bit at Arthur
"you're just saying that because I'm having a bad day" she said looking down at the frills
"remind me to donate this to the Shakespeare family when I'm done with today" Layla said sighing as she messed with the skirt
“No I am saying it because I mean it you cutie pie!” He had on a pair of plastic gloves brushing her hair from her face. “I care so deeply about you but we will find a way to make this live able! We have Dracula, Knights, Witches, Angels, and Demons, hell I’m sure there are a few fairies left too. Between all of them there has to be a solution.” Arthur wore a handsome smile.
Drac nodded, “we have this so far the shoes and the dress aren’t reacting and nothing she is touching is reacting.
Layla looked around and nodded
"whatever we do we should get Godwin breakfast, I think I owe everyone breakfast at this point" she said with a laugh though she didn't really seem to think it was funny, this just wasn't her day.
“Well what can you eat?” Arthur asked looking to Drac, “what would she be able to eat?” That was a fresh panic they didn’t need.
“I’m sure there is some nutritional shake the knights have that would suffice? Not the greatest but if it is just today. Then alright after all it is the Blood Moon. Which may have something to do with it.”
"what are the knights going to do?" Layla asked him raising a brow
"what about Ezra? He's older than dirt according to Nikki, same as Carina could they help?"
“Help you find something to eat, between Emelyne and the good scientists there they should be able to get you something edible. Right now we need to make sure you are fed too, and I don’t think you want to deal with veggies and animals when you weren’t expecting them to come to life. Carina might, she is a djinn. You haven’t made any wishes she might be able to help but we should use her as a worse case scenario solution.”
"trust me I couldn't eat right now if I wanted too" Layla said shaking her head at them "besides eggs would be safe because they were never living" Layla pointed out to then before she sighed
"I just want to go back to the majority of what Normal is for me before Nikki's show"
“Cheese should be too, milk was never alive to begin with either.” Arthur suggested.
“Good idea!” Drac nodded. “What else she can’t live on cheesy eggs.”
“Why not?” Arthur asked.
"ok I'm calling Ezra because you guys are stuck on food, there has to be some kind of ancient witchy magic crap that someone knows that can cure me" Layla said with a Huff she appreciates the thought but they were hyper focused on food
Layla went to her phone and hesitated before she looked at Godwin
"uh can you?'
Godwin snatched up the phone and dialed Ezra up.
“You’ve reached Ezra Byrne,” Ezra said.
“Ezra it is Godwin, calling on behalf of Layla. Hey do you know anything about the upcoming Bloodmoon? Or what effects it may have on her? Perhaps Carina might?”
“There are somethings that are bound to happen. Bloodmoons are rare. Back in the times past they were either times of new growth or times of utter destruction. I’ll see if I can free Carina for a bit and then meet up with you all.” The line dropped.
Godwin was glad the conversation had not been on speaker. “He is going to grab Carina and be on his way.” He didn’t want to worry her further. “Anyone else we should call?”
“Ghostbusters.” Arthur said pointing at the Ghosts accumulating in the neighborhood.
Vlad sighed, “well this isn’t the weirdest thing to happen in this neighborhood.” He looked over to Layla. “We should call Nikki. She would want to know at least even with her play rehearsals.”
Layla nodded a little bit and went to sit in a chair before she stopped herself
"well if we're calling ghost busters, drac don't you have the number for van Hellsing?" Layla asked him she wanted to sit in the carpet but wasn't sure of that would work either so she settled for sitting in the file floor in the middle of the kitchen avoiding all contacts
Drac nodded making various calls to Ava, Lottie, and a quick message to the knights to maybe help crowd control should humans being human let the curiosity get the better of them.
"not tow worry dearie," Lottie promised as she sat brewing another spell
"blood moon brings about all kinds of magic troubles, makes Powers go haywire it's like a stronger full moon ya know" Lottie explained to him as she scooped out some potion and gave it to her son quickly
"ya Should see poor Alec, his powers are going nuts I woke up this mornin' to a purple cat sitting outside my door, shapeshifters are complicated" Lottie said shaking her head as alec drank it and finally shifted back to his preferred form
“I can only imagine how much fun the werewolves are having tonight.” On bloodmoons the Vampire community was put on lockdown for their safety from werewolves. Merric in preparation had gone with his pack out to the deeper forest some hours away ride by motorcycle. On the off chance that there was any stragglers he had ordered the vampires to stay in doors.
“Someone should check on Grim and Anja, while I love the idea of Annalise havin herself a body again we dun want her to worry about this she hasn’t seen creatures freak out like this before” Lottie said thoughtfully trying to cover all grounds in her mind
“ya should warn yer djinni friend not to grant wishes either, who knows how her powers will handle such a thing.” Lottie said listing things off before thinking
“I’ll have ta check on teh shakespeares as well, the little ones might not handle the blood moon well either, hows yer family?”
“We should have August check on Grim Dragons are more his forte anyways.” Vlad said as he thought of what a blood moon could do to a pair of vampire children. “We should check on the twins at the Shakespeare residence. They could be capable of untold chaos.” He was already texting Carina to avoid using her powers.
"I'll head over there with some stablizer in a couple of bottles for the little ones," Lottie said looking at the cauldron on her stove to gauge how much
"you be careful too, blood moon effects natural magics"
“Believe me I had a devil of a time flying here I ended up ubering instead.” Drac shook his head. “Flying way too fast. Also think we could get some stabilizer for Layla she could use it.”
“If ya can come get it ya can have some, I dunno how many more people are gonna need it though but i’m nearly out of Gurdyroot and Haliwinkles” Lottie said going over to teh white board on the fridge and adding it to the shopping list Alec was back to himself and looked much more relaxed Lottie ushered him over to the couch to rest
“If ya can get me some more i’d be happy to help. and be careful! Sophia might take advantage of this if she stayed in the city”
“Oh I have every belief that she is here, somewhere ready to attack. Cause chaos and ruin lives it is what she does.” Drac shook his head. “Those grow in the fae wild right? Maybe we could see if the fae can get some for us? Given that there is a bleed over between our world and theirs?”
"they're from the fey wilds but there are a select few that grow them here and there are only two in the city and unfortunately not one of em" Lottie said rolling her eyes
"try lady Margery on West avenue, it looks like a pawn shop but it's a witches shop besides the pizza place ya can't miss it"
