i sincerely believe that lil peep still has a fanbase MAINLY because he died 🙂‍↔️ if he was alive i think that his career would be similar to how most other SoundCloud era rappers turned out (with very few like lil uzi vert being exceptions) and have eventually dropped into irrelevance with some niche audience. don't get me wrong, im a HUGE lil peep fan and discovered him 6 ish months before his death; but i truly do believe that if he died before i discovered who he was i would've only found him through news of his death like i did with juice wrld or xxxtentacion
