I know you've said before that you haven't 100%'d the game (I haven't either lol) so you may not know all the context but:

If you get Stranger first, deny Shifty and go to the cabin/heart, then talk to Stranger for a bit, Contrarian will call himself 'the worst part' of all of them (the system/LQ)

I thought it was just this sad thing that Contrarian says about himself, but then I saw someone showing the dialogue options in Razor with Contrarian early on. In one of the dialogue options (I don't remember which, sorry) Cheated tells Contrarian that he's 'the worst part' of them.

And while I think that Contrarian still calls himself that in Stranger's heart regardless of whether or not you also got Razor, I THINK THAT CONTRARIAN WAS REPEATING WHAT CHEATED SAID TO HIM.

I nearly *screamed* when I realized it, like Cheated, no, why. You hurt him.

Anyway, my headcanon is that, post-construct, Hero made Cheated apologize to Contrarian. The apology was genuine, because Cheated felt bad for hurting Contrarian and not realizing how much his words stuck.

Plot twist: the reason why Contrarian may still say that even if you didn't get Razor is because I am convinced that he isn't affected by the memory wipe stuff. cause like his whole shtick is defying the rules and expectations presented by both others and reality [see: Stranger] and the whole "forgetting things each reset" seems pretty rule-like to me lmao [also it would be very fitting given he also seems to represent 1/2 of the consequences of immortality itself, the other half being Cold but I am getting of topic lmao]

A surprising fact- Around a year and a half ago, I spilled boiling water on my hand, and the burn caused some of the worst pain I had ever experienced. To this day, if I spill boiling water of the same temperature, it does not hurt my hand anymore. Rather, it just feels like typical hot water.

My favourite drink- my mother’s lattes, no question. She drizzles chocolate in mine and creates a mocha for me. Usually, we have our coffee around two or three in the afternoon and it is truly the best part of the day.

An activity I do- I have many! Though for the sake of preventing my replies from becoming too long, I shall list a few. I play piano, and I have done so for sixteen years. I manicure my own nails, and I have been a nail artist for about three years. Another favourite activity of mine is experimenting with makeup. I can do just about anything, varying from an SFX wound to vintage clown makeup. I have been drawing since before I could walk and talk, so I suppose that skill carries over into cosmetics.

Tv show/movie I am watching- There are none in particular, though I have been watching one of Lon Chaney’s movies each weekend. Does that count?

A book you’re reading- I began the Jeeves series by PG Wodehouse with my mother and sister for a book club. They’re a British series written in the 1920’s, and I am actually enjoying them so far more than I expected since I tend to gravitate towards gothic literature.

Favourite dessert- Any form of cake, especially pumpkin spice.

Surprising Fact: Uhhh I've been studying cannibalism (It's pretty interesting learning about it's origins, honestly. I promise I ain't gonna take a bite outta someone, chat XD)

This is a kind of reference to something I’ve mentioned / alluded to in various fics; each of the Voices has a separate set of knowledge on different topics.

Contrarian has the widest set of knowledge, second only to Hero, and carries information on things like games, pop culture, and modern technology, among others.

Opportunist, on the other hand, is more specialized. He carries knowledge on languages and cyphers. Give him any text, even if it’s in a dead language and heavily encrypted, and he’ll be able to read / speak it easily. But, again, it’s only the dictionary definitions. Phrases and metaphors are translated literally, so he’s very blunt and literal when attempting to speak / write in most languages.

TLDR: Contrarian knows exactly what he’s doing. Opportunist doesn’t, and thus misses his ‘lines’ for the meme.

Sort of! I sketched up a rough-ish idea / beta design earlier (also sorry it took so long to get back to you /gen):

Looks like smoke

Eyes glow in the dark

Hole (in chest) is pitch black. Not that anyone would notice, because nearly everything else in the room is also pitch black

Wound is heart shaped!

Underbelly feather patterns make a heart shape

This is a man that writes sonnets and love letters in his free time, BUT he is a hard worker. Guy built an entire castle from scratch, he absolutely has powerful muscles and calluses and knows how to use power tools.

Fun facts!

Regarding Smitten's room (or, well, whatever room he's in when he turns into his frightening ghoul form); it, again, is completely dark. Shine a flashlight inside, for example, and you still won't see anything. Other than Smitten's eyes, no light can interrupt the darkness. The room also loses most of its scents, but Smitten smells more like smoke than anything else, partly because he turns into smoke when in his frightening ghoul form.

Slightly random, but I have a few of these 3D puzzles based on human anatomy that I got when I was a little kid (because I am a nerd in a family of nerds) (the puzzles are of a heart, a brain, and the organs and such in a human torso / head, the only body parts missing being the arms and legs (by design))

All of them still sit on my desk, and are actually fully accurate! I think that the heart is also size accurate, but I may be misremembering that part. Anyway, I probably should have been looking at the head / torso puzzle while drawing Smitten's organs (because I'm certain that I accidentally messed up the proportions and placements), and likely will use it as a reference later on.

Also, that puzzle is missing the heart piece! It still goes together well enough, but I must've lost it at some point. In hindsight, it feels almost like fate /silly

Also also, this is actually what the first step of my drawing process looks like! I sketch it up on paper, take a picture, and digitally trace over that picture to clean up the lines and add details and colors!

I have a single Voice design finalized and that Voice is Contrarian, so:

Misc. Facts:

Left handed

Six fingers on each hand

Feathers on his right side are darker and rounded, and feathers on his left side are lighter and sharper

Eyes are the same colour

No significant feather patterns

Tail splits into two ends, each with different types of feathers

His right wing is significantly larger and heavier than his left wing, which leads to a lopsided center of gravity. His center of gravity is closer to the heavier wing. The uneven center of gravity affects his posture, making him lean to one side to avoid falling over.

Contrarian is completely monochrome, even in environments where his features should be colour shifted in some way. When under a redlight, of example, his feathers don’t gain a red tone. They simply become darker.

Contrarian’s preference for clothing is centered entirely on whether or not he can easily move around in them. Features such as colour, size, and patterns are irrelevant to him.

Also worth noting:

My Voices wear clothes, but their selection of clothing is limited by what they can find in cabins or by what Broken can make (which is, in turn, also limited by what materials they can find or make).

Contrarian is grayscale even down to the bone — his blood, for example, is also grey.

Things like his proportions are inconsistent (because I’m not very good at drawing consistent proportions lol), so uh. Don’t look at him super closely, just focus on the colours and general shapes and such.

He is the second shortest Voice, only slightly taller than Hunted.

The Voice design here is the same one as in my fics.

The final chapter of 'The Pristine Jaw' is out!

My kitchen has been covered in sand for the last few weeks, but it was clean enough yesterday to bake a cake! :D It’s a red velvet cake from a box mix

Recipe under the cut:

1 bag of box mix

1 cup milk (again, I use almond milk, but just about any kind should work)

1/4 cup melted butter

4 eggs

Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit / 177 degrees Celsius

Mix all ingredients in a bowl

Pour batter into two cake tins

Bake for about 26 minutes or until toothpick poked into the center comes out clean

Allow to cool for 20 minutes

Assemble, frost, and enjoy! Cake can be left in a closed container for about 1-2 weeks, or placed in a freezer for about a month
