yessss their age gap is soooo special to me. personally i usually think of them being right around 8 years apart (they're about 7.5 years apart irl) that's close enough that meeting in their 30s, it probably doesn't affect their relationship much. but at the same time, it's far enough apart that it could become an insecurity for john and is 100% a turn on for bob.

john might not think about it at first but it does come up eventually. like here's his 40th birthday and his boyfriend is 32. what do people think? do they think he seduced a younger, weaker man (keep in mind the public doesn't know he's sentry)? what if they think olivia divorced him because he was already chasing after bob? and then there's bob. what does bob think of the fact that john is several years older than him? is he going to wake up one day and decides he wants someone younger?

meanwhile bob is nothing but heart eyes. he would never leave john for a younger man. i don't even think he would date a younger man if him and john weren't together. he's the king of daddy issues. he gets off on being manhandled. and while he does strongly value his independence, he also desires someone who will take care of him and he looks for an older man for that. bob also adores the dad bod, of course. he likes his men strong and soft and hairy. basically, john is everything he could ever want <3
