Drag kings became pretty rare after the turn of the century, so Stormé de Larverie is a pretty notable stand out.

She started out her career as a traveling jazz singer in feminine attire. In 1955, she became the suave MC of a drag troupe called the Jewel Box Review, which billed itself as "25 men and a girl."

Stormé was present at The Stonewall Inn when the rioting broke out, and afterwards, became an advocate for LGBT and women's rights. She was a bouncer at lesbian bars, and carried a gun to protect "her girls."

When asked about why she did her work, she answered, "Somebody has to care. People say, 'Why do you still do that?' I said, 'It's very simple. If people didn't care about me when I was growing up, with my mother being black, raised in the south.' I said, 'I wouldn't be here.'"

The point of public transit is that it serves as a public service. Public services should be free and paid for by government fully. The over reliance on fare revenues is one of the key factors in the poor Maintenance and reliability on our systems. Public transit like Metros, Light rails, Trams, Busses and Commuter rails should be free and we shouldn't arrest people for fare evasion

May I present to you Wheel Running In the Wild, a published research paper that delights me to no end:

This paper intended to test whether would mice would run on a wheel if they found one, to try and determine if this was a natural behavior or a stress response in captivity. They put a wheel in a protected little box with a camera that took pictures any time the wheel turned, and tallied up how often it was used by what.

Mice were, happily, the most common users of the wheel, and their patterns of use indicated they were doing so voluntarily once they figured it out.

But the second most common users.

Those were slugs.
