Ive eaten crunchwraps more supreme than this court
extremely controversial take but. i don’t like having covid.
every time i hear “you kept me like a secret but i kept you like an oath” i go INSANE
and then the line “you called me up again just to break me like a promise” goes SO MUCH HARDER with that context
every time i hear “you kept me like a secret but i kept you like an oath” i go INSANE
so what's it going to take for mainstream feminism to grow some fucking teeth?
the entire last decade has been an experiment in tearing out feminism's teeth and its guts and its spine and its brain, so now we're left with 1) a group of evil idiots who are too busy blaming trans women for everything to do anything useful, and 2) a group of regular idiots who think any thought deeper than "let women do what they want" makes you part of group 1.
and where'd that get us? roe is on the chopping block and calling yourself an abuse victim is "defamation" and covid has led to women leaving the workforce in droves and employed women still do the bulk of the housework and i am so so tired
It’s very apparent also that people do not care about male abuse victims. Because it’s almost like this case wasn’t about whether or not he was abused and more over the fact he could ruin her and ruin her career and gain his back
Because if y’all did care…..where are the resources? Where are the articles talking about male abuse victims. Where are the shelters that have places for them…….oh you didn’t look???? You didn’t seek that out. You didn’t read books about it?????? That’s interesting

How a washed-up celebrity, men’s rights activists and true crime stans convinced millions of Americans to buy into a conspiracy theory
“So how did Heard lose such a winnable case? Two words: Jury trial.
“In hindsight, the verdict came down the minute the judge allowed the case to be televised. Jurors weren’t sequestered or sheltered from the internet in any way, meaning they were likely exposed to the same bad-faith memes and out-of-context clips as everyone else. Plus, this case has been swirling around the internet for years, making an impartial jury an impossibility in the first place. One man was allowed to stay in the jury pool after revealing a text from his wife that read, “Amber is psychotic.”
“I have no idea what happens next, but I do know that Depp’s unbelievably cynical strategy to discredit his ex-wife’s abuse claims (Jessica Winter called it “a high-budget, general-admission form of revenge porn”) was a resounding success. Heard is now one of the most hated figures in America. Even if she overturns the decision on appeal, she will likely never be cast in a major Hollywood role again — what studio wants to risk a hostile internet campaign before they even start shooting?
“Depp’s core claim — women advance their careers by accusing powerful men of abuse — doesn’t even hold up to the evidence of his own abuse accusation. Heard is ruined; Depp is in pre-production for his next role; other alleged abusers are already copying his legal strategy.
“And outside the courtroom, America’s march backward toward the 1950s continues apace.”
if seeing that play out like that, knowing it happens to women relentlessly in family and criminal court in dv cases privately and with much higher stakes.... if watching this happen like this, knowing that people who work w dv victims are now reporting that abusers are jokingly referring to their ex/partners as 'miss heard' and 'amber' does not radicalise you and your feminist politics then frankly nothing will. the fact they televised this is catastrophic. the fact this case even went ahead after a judge ruled that amber heard sufficiently proved at least 12 instances of abuse is catastrophic. i hope johnny depp and every waster wife beater fuckin woman hater like him chokes to death on his own fucking vomit tonight. piece of shit
I just wanna tell amber heard to keep her chin up and FUCK EM ALL.... you know what happened. go live your peace and honestly dont let him or ANYONE who has enabled him to darken your door again. never forgive any of these bastards for NOTHING
i don't care about celebrity at all, i dont know anything abt her films or career etc. but i have so much empathy for what she has experienced and she is right- she DOES represent domestic abuse in the public sphere and hasnt it been illuminating and fucking excruciating? this final humiliation is horrible but expected and I'm sure she was prepared for it. in so many meaningful ways she will be okay but you cant really imagine the grief and humiliation she must have felt hearing that verdict.
chin up girl.
only good woman is a dead woman.
better off being alive and a bitch and a liar malicious histrionic bisexual than dead and a tragedy they all talk about in the past tense and pretend to care about.
you can have pictures but it’s not enough you can have corroborating witnesses but it isn’t enough you can have texts where he fantasizes about murdering and raping you but it isn’t enough you can have him admitting he was controlling and angry and violent but it isn’t enough. this is going to get people killed
Like I don’t even want to play devils advocate right now because I don’t believe this at all but what people don’t seem to understand is that even if Amber Heard was more than complicit or perhaps a perpetrator of violence (I don’t believe this), this has still served as an opening of Pandora’s box for violent men. Every person who is abused at the hands of their partner is going to get the “well, you’re just like Amber Heard!” treatment. This isn’t up for debate because I’m not wrong. I’ve never been so confident in a belief in my entire life and it’s so depressing that this is the first time I’ve been this sure about anything. I’m telling you from firsthand experience that “you’re just like Amber Heard” is going to quickly become a commonly used phrase for manipulative abusive men across the board. Every girl who gets hit by her boyfriend is going to get called Amber Heard. Every girl who asks for help is Amber Heard. Every girl who raises her voice or fights back is Amber Heard. Today is a great day to be a misogynist.
i feel sick. what the fuck
The jury agreeing that it was defamation to call her allegations a hoax while also deciding that she defamed Depp (with malice) over one sentence in an op-ed is legitimately insane.
This is where I think Heard has very good grounds to appeal the verdict. I’m no lawyer, so maybe there’s a better explanation, but this just seems completely nonsensical to me.
i just hope that amber is safe. i hope that she is somehow able to go on to live a fulfilling life full of love. i hope that johnny depp gets his comeuppance. i hope that all abusive men do. i hope that all of the people that mocked and belittled amber someday come to realize the harm they’ve done and truly regret it. i dream that one day we can live in a world free of gendered violence. i really, really do.
gone girl isn't real fucking life and women don't falsely report about rape and domestic abuse or dream up plans to ruin a man's life.
men are 230x more likely to be raped than falsely accused of rape.
domestic abuse isnt even a crime in the UK.
women don't report domestic abuse for fear of being killed and fear of their children being killed
BUT most women who choose to report say that by the time they DO report it to authorities, it is because they fear that their lives or the lives of their children. they fear imminent risk. and at the point of leaving is when you are most at risk of serious violence by a perp.
obviously the police consistently ignore and dismiss DA and especially DA in poor communities and where Black women try to report it and seek help with refuge.
the reality of DA away from the glitzy penthouse hopping MRA accounts by johnny depp's legal team is HORRIFYING.
amber heard just wanted a restraining order and a divorce. she got 2 court cases and global humiliation as punishment.
every time we disbelieve women we create the conditions and stigma that helps men destroy women's lives.
