People who vehemently hate cats (it's fine if they're just not your preferred pet/animal, if you've been attacked by one and are now wary around them, or if you're allergic, but if someone tells you they have a cat and the first thing out of your mouth is a comment about how much you hate cats, get the fuck off my blog.)

does my schizophrenia influence my religion? duh. does my religion influence my schizophrenia? of course. but saying that i should be barred from practicing a religion because it influences and/or is influenced by psychosis portrays schizophrenia as something inherently bad that must be avoided at all costs and must be removed from both the individual and society.

while some people see their illness as a negative part of their life, wish not to have it, or want to seek treatment to remove symptoms— all of which are completely valid ways to view oneself and express one’s autonomy— i am not one of those people. my schizophrenia is a part of me. my relationship with religion, schizophrenia, and bodily & mental autonomy are mine alone, and to say i am not ‘allowed’ to practice or believe in religion due to its interactions with my psychosis when i have literally done absolutely nothing wrong is cruel at best and borderline eugenicist at worst.
