Warm and cozy together in a blanket near the heating.
Looking out the window (or probably wondering where my husband went).
Hobbel is always quite active during Spring :). Don't worry, they're just playing.
Lol, very 'smexy' as I would say. Ferrets licking their tummies, or at least Annie was until she smelled Hobbel. Sorry for the naked parts , but I guess that's ferrety too XD.

Haha this video was funny so I thought it was worth sharing :)
Does anyone else take it personally when they see posts talking about how much ferrets stink?
I always feel offended and feel the need to explain that fed and cared for to a high level, ferrets will hardly smell!
I take my ferrets to a veterinary teaching hospital and usually I am very pleased with the high level of knowledge the students and faculty in the exotics department. However, during one of my recent visits, the student who was weighing my ferrets put on gloves and said, “no offense, but I don’t want to smell like ferrets all day.”
I can only accurately describe how I felt through a gif:
Ferrets
Today I talked about cats with some cat-people. Cats are really cute, I mean...they all have their own character and there or so many kinds of cats and they make really lovely pets...but for me nothing really will change the fact that I love ferrets the most. I've known some cats, we had 3-4 at home when I was a child. Those cats were the kind of wild outside cats. We had a sort-of-barn where they lived and it was really nice seeing them grow up, grow character, chase mice but also be inside when it was winter and sit on the heater and sit next to each other like brothers...honestly the feeling of 'family' actually meant a lot more with cats around sometimes. When we (my husband and me) started to live in an apartment, we thought about getting a pet. But with the way I was grown up with a cat..a cat would need more space than just one apartment..so that wasn't an option. One day I was browsing the internet and learned about ferrets (again, because I've seen them before when I was a kid) and they sounded very interesting. They really are. Some people mistake ferrets for rodents like rats, but they aren't. Ferrets are predators...just like cats are. They eat meat...or something that replaces that with the same amount of protein and other ingredients. But next to that they are still pets...though they're not that common. Ferrets like we have aren't found in 'the wild', they are seen as (and probably are) the offspring of polecats but most of them wouldn't survive in the wild and just live of people that care about 'm. One of our ferrets doesn't even like wild mice..once I bought it for them but only Annie, our girl, liked it. They're very used to meal-ready-food. Like high-protein kibble or freshly-grounded-meat that doesn't have fur on the outside anymore. But next to that I find ferrets really convenient. They sleep for about 80% of the day and don't cost any attention whatsoever. The other 20-10% they are 'really awake' (in winter they might be less active). And with awake I mean: they want to play. And with play I mean they bite you in the toes and challenge you to play with them. They really really love to play...either with humans or with eachother. So even when I'm a boring person who sits behind a pc for a lot of the time they drag me from it and tell me: "come on, come play with us". They play hide-and-seek under the couch, they play 'tag' around the table, they try to tease eachother and then 'dook' when they don't get what they want or get exactly what they expected. I said 'dook' because dooking is the sound they make when they get excited. In the Netherlands we call it 'mokken' because it sounds like 'mokmokmokmokmok'.It's supercute. Next to that, ferrets also really have personality. Either from the stories I've heard or from our own experience, they're like they are their own person. Our guy 'Hobbel' is a ferret that is a bit silly and lazy, but he also is more cuddly. In the beginning he didn't really wanted to play with us (found it scary probably), but after some years he's sometimes often very actively jumping and playing with us and next to that he just loves a neck-massage and also sometimes just sits there next to you like he wants to say 'I like you'. So he might not be much of a smart ferret but he's a really cute guy. Then our female, Annie...she's always been the more challenging and smart one but, she's grown more to be someone who likes to rather play with us humans than with Hobbel. She's fast and curious but she also knows what 'playing' means, she really knows that right balance between playing hard and playing for fun. It might scare other people sometimes, but to me it's just the same as someone who makes really sharp comments and know what he/she's doing. Annie lately also sometimes just started sleeping right at my lap and it's amazingly cute. It's like this kid that feels so safe to both challenge and play but also comes sleep and becomes vulnerable. I never found these kind of things in cats. I don't want to say that cats are better or worse or whatever (cats are awesome!).. it's just that..after all this time I'm still surprised every time I have so much fun with our ferrets and they grew so much more attached than I ever thought they would. Ferrets are in my opinions just really amazing pets..that's why I don't really understand why not a lot of people have them as much they do have cats or dogs. I mean sure you have to be there for them actively for short periods of time (instead of cats just 'being there') and at least they need a bit of a more specific kind of food ...but it's not that hard (I just order it from the internet?), but it's totally worth it. I'm not even an active-kind of person and I like this pretty-active-but-still-in-the-house-kind-of-pet but maybe for me that created the kind of balance I need. What I just wanted to say is: I really love my ferrets just as much as the whole world likes cats...if you know what I mean :)!
Someone told me to try the hats on while they are sleeping.
Gus didn’t want to be left out but I already got his picture.
Reblogging things because I'm not at home atm, but we definitely need to try on some hats on our ferrets!
I will start off saying that I hate that I am writing this. I am so sad, so bummed out, but I know it’s really for the best. The more I map out my next year, the more I realize how much this needs to happen. If you are one of my friends irl and I haven’t told you about this directly: I encourage...
Annie! She was still sleeping this morning so I think she's extra energetic this night.

There’s officially a Vegan ferret food.
I’m sickened!
Just look at the ingredients! Those ingredients all promote the development of Insulinoma! A ferret on this I’m positive won’t even pass the 4 year mark.
In case the image is hard to see, here’s quotes :
“EVOLUTION is the Only Pet Grade Dog and Cat Food Company that does not use Terrorized, Sick Animal or Waste Part Ingredients.”
"Evolution’s Premium Ingredients are designed to help your pet live a Healthier, Longer Life. This is not a guarantee. We can not release our actual test data until we have published in a national journal."Our 100% complete Evolution Gourmet Pasta Veggie Burger Flavored Ferret Kibble is specially formulated using Whole Grain Oats and our Gourmet Fondue Veggie Cheese Burger flavored kibble also uses Whole Grain Oats.”
Ingredients : Whole Grain NON-GMO Oats,Corn Gluten Meal, Soybean Meal, Soybean Oil, Carrots, Dried Tomato Pomace, Dried Potato Product, Dried Molasses, Deflourinated Phosphate, Lecithin, Sea Kelp, Taurine, Garlic, Potassium Chloride, Calcium Carbonate, Salt, Nutritional Yeast, Arginine, DL-Methionine, Enzyme Bromelain from Pineapple Stem and Fruit, Enzyme Papain from Papaya, Dried Lactobacillus Acidophilus, Fermentation Product, Dried Bifidobacterium Bifidum fermentation product, Lysine, Choline Chloride, Zinc Oxide, Ferrous Sulfate, Vitamin A Acetate, Vitamin D2 Supplement, Vitamin E Supplement, Niacin, Ascorbic Acid, Calcium Pantothenate, Manganous Oxide, Vitamin B-12 Supplement, Thiamin Mononitrate, Kelp Meal, Menadione Sodium Bisulfite complex, Folic acid, Riboflavin Supplement (Vitamin B-2), Inositol, Biotin, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Calcium Iodate, Sodium Selenite, Zinc Methionine Complex, Copper Lysine Complex, Manganese, Methionine Complex, L-Carnitine, Arachidonic Acid, Rosemary Extract, Cobalt Glucoheptonate.
Many, well, mostly all, of those ingredients are PROVEN to cause Insulinoma in ferrets as they are obligate carnivores. Anything of corn, sugar, starch, fruit and veggie causes the pancreas to work over time and eventually form numerous tumors that keep the pancreas functioning wrong.
I can’t believe some people..
thelifeofmyferrets
I have been vegetarian/vegan but I know ferrets are obligate carnivores. I decided to feed my babies raw for their well-being even though I knew it would gross me out. One thing about being vegetarian is for animals rights? So, wouldn’t you want the best for your babies?
It took me awhile to get used to feeding them raw but a year later I see a great improvement.
Even though you want the best for you, please don’t force your pets to eat vegetarian/vegan diet.
no vegan food for ferrets ok?

The ferrets are sleeping in my workroom at the moment, they love it here apparently :)
That time when Nick decided to give Hobbel a sword...
