I've been thinking of the "Can Granny Weatherwax beat Bugs Bunny" question and this is my full take for Discworld characters:

Vimes - Cares too much, too easy to piss off. Has the innate chase instinct that makes characters run into walls with realistic tunnels painted on them. Might get to arrest Bugs Bunny but the beast will just slip out of the handcuffs to help him lock them, then walk out of the jail cell to have a union mandated coffee break.

Ridcully - Classic hunting season scenario, but has enough charisma to probably still get a few good shots off before the inevitable.

Rest of the wizards - No survivors, only Bugs.

Carrot - The intense near-magical narrative aura of well meaning innocence should make him immune, Bugs will likely be forced to be the villain of the episode.

Lord Vetinari - Flattened by a comically large anvil in the first few minutes of the episode, unclear if it was all a part of his long term strategy or not.

Moist - Has the 'lovable trickster getting away with it' energy, but nowhere near Bugs level. Already fell for the "old lady who swallowed a fly" scenario with the stamp slugs once, won't fare any better here.

Death - Definitely one of those "character is trying to avoid death" episodes, would go back and forth. Might actually get to end Bugs but his spirit will reappear in Death's domain and ruin his garden.

Nanny Ogg - The ultimate in anti-Bugs technology, a gleefully annoying old lady who doesn't give a fuck and definitely won't be the first to instigate the plot bearing conflict. This is a full sweep, he's the episode antagonist.

Granny Weatherwax - Too win-motivated to not lose. Would have to break the story to have any chance. Might do it.

Magrat - Will have sappy ideas about helping the poor animal which honestly has the 50:50 chance of either getting slapsticked or Bugs ending in a ye olde stroller&pacifier gag.

Colon&Nobby - Designed in a lab to be totaled by Bugs Bunny.

Tiffany Aching - A child that also has a large pan that is the perfect thing to hit someone over the head with and make a BOIOIOINGGG sound, so great odds.

The thing about Granny Weatherwax is that she understands the plot structure of the story she's in. And with Bugs Bunny, understanding the plot structure is the key to victory. She just has to bait him into making the first move against her, turning him into the antagonist. I think I already said this on another similar post, but if Granny bakes a pie and puts it on the windowsill, it's all over for Bugs.

Pokémon: Crystal (Gems) Version

“Gotta catch ‘em all!”

My very first video game that was my own, rather than something I shared with my siblings (or rather, that my older brother shared with my sister and me), was Pokémon Red. I got it alongside a Game Boy Color for my ninth birthday, near the end of the schoolyear that began with the launch of the Pokémon phenomenon. It was love at first sight, even though I didn’t get why “level” suddenly meant something different from a stage Mario runs through.

While I might not love Pokémon quite as much as I did as a kid (I get the new games at launch but call me when they make one as good as Platinum again), I still think it’s great, and one of the things my nerd-ass brain loves doing is pairing fictional characters with any number of the billions of Pokémon out there. Considering I write about Steven Universe, and considering I’ve done a similar cross-media mashup with the webcomic Homestuck, I thought it’d be fun to apply this hobby to Steven and the gang. And I did! Buuuut that’s not what makes this special.

I wanted to do more than just write some fun descriptions of which partner each character would have in an alternate universe where Pokémon existed in the cartoon; I wanted to see it come to life! So I commissioned the fantastic Ferry, who’d graciously allowed me to use her art before for a header image in an old review, to draw the twelve main Trainer/Mon duos in this AU. I showed her a draft of what I’d written and asked her to pretty much do whatever, and she blew me away with the direction she took. So, with a major assist from Ferry’s gorgeous art, let’s see what Pokémon the Beach City gang uses!

(I’ve included each partner’s Pokédex entry, nature, and main moves—not the only ones they know, just what they use the most—as well as the rest of each trainer’s team. To avoid confusion, I use the same naming convention for mons that I use for Gems, using lowercase for the name of the group and capitalization for the name of an individual member of that group: Pearl is a pearl, and Pikachu is a pikachu. Spoiler alert for Pokémon fans who haven’t watched the show!)
