Recker!Notes: I came down from watching a double feature of Artificial Intelligence and Bicentennial Man with a craving for anything android and beautiful. I found this and fell in love. I needed something lighter and with a happier ending and Hover does that. Creates a world and sets her android!mike to run amok in it and make Harvey fall (both literally and figuratively).

Every table seemed full. Only, these weren't the usual patrons of the cafés Frank worked in. There were no yummy mommies with children at their knees, no writers tapping at their lap tops. There was a guy over there with a beard to his waist sitting with a woman with waves tattooed all over her arms, and a boy with what looked like implants on his forehead, almost like horns. There were piercings and ink and all manner of body modification as far as the eye could see, and crazy-assed clothes too. Frank smiled. Ink. The chances of Frank getting work here had, he felt, just doubled. "Take a seat," a guy said, brushing past Frank bearing a tray loaded with steaming mugs and teapots and plates frothing with creamy cakes, held high above his head. "I'll be with you in a minute."

It is something that John realises only a few days after meeting the Detective. Sherlock knows London. He knows the little intricacies that no one else pays attention to or you only know if you’ve lived in that area for your entire life. And consequently London knows Sherlock back. Its life blood, the people that flow up and down with the arteries and veins of the city all seem to owe the man something and give him something back in return. Be it clean laundry or a hot meal or someplace unknown to stay at night on cases, the city and its people protect Sherlock to the best of their ability.

Summary: Just because Sherlock stopped, doesn't mean the Work has to. London is John's city now and he will keep it together with stitching, string, his healing, the food off his table, and some times the clothes off his back. John Watson keeps going. He's good at that. RECKER!NOTES: Up to date the best Sherlock fic I've read. Poignant, in-character, in-depth and extremely well plotted and written. The original characters are charming and flawed and realistic and the world the author has created feels like canon, it's that well constructed. It's not perfect, it's human.
