University or high school?
I hope that was a typo. I might need a bottle or two.
High school, although I would say that the level of work put in by a number of my students easily rival those in university.
A bottle or two of what?

Kelsea & Daisy

I took some Spanish once upon a time in high school. Seems kind of like a good place to start before I progress into any languages that don’t share our alphabet. I’ve been meaning to learn a second language for a while now, but I agree with the sentiment that maybe Chinese writing is too complex for me for the time being. I’m Daisy by the way.
Hello Daisy! Pleasure to meet you, I’m Kelsea.
I would so love to learn Chinese, and start branching out to Asiatic languages, but the amount of work required to study it is so immense, especially since it is so unlike English.
lachlanclarke:
I’m not one to invite people to another person’s house, but Micah has always had an open door policy to his Sunday dinners. If you go you’ll be meeting more than Adele, we bring all the little ones.
I’ll be sure to PM him and ask, if I ever should have the time on a Sunday night. My Sundays are typically filled with grading and answering e-mails, but I think that I would like to change that soon.
Kelsea & Lachlan
lachlanclarke:
Congratulations! That’s quite the promotion for someone so young. Are you enjoying the position?
It comes with its stresses, but I’m excited to start making a difference in the lives of young linguists! Perhaps my enthusiasm will be my downfall, as this is my first official teaching position. I’ve been tutoring for several years now but this is a very big step up from that.

I try to avoid folding as much as possible because firstly, it takes too much time. Secondly, creases are never fun when you’re in a rush. Besides, closets always look very impressive when it is full of stuff hanging, even if it is just pajamas.
Oh, that’s so true! My closet couldn’t ever hope to fit all of my clothes, though. Hopefully I can move before the end of this year, but my apartment isn’t as spacious as a neat-freak like myself would prefer.
Kelsea & Connor
connor--byrne:
That’s impressive. I guess I’m not that impressive when it comes to reading. I’m not really much of the reading type, sadly.
That’s no worry. Maybe one day you’ll find the right book that makes you fall in love with literature. And, perhaps, it could be one of mine! Is there any genre or author that you find yourself drawn to, at all?
lucas-peterson:
An individual like myself? What exactly are you referring to? My appearance in the picture or the fact I own a bar? Basing your judgement of what my value of education is on either of those things is frankly insulting.Â
I’ll have you know I was referring to the fact you implied all you do is work and have no time for social interaction despite the fact you signed up for a social media network.Â
As for my value of education. I’m currently sustaining a 4.0 grade point average doing a duel engineering degree in mechanical and aerospace engineering so you can take your self righteousness and choke on it.
[d: Well I’ll have you know that this was not my idea in the first place]
[d: Congratulations, maybe you can open up humanity’s first bar on Mars]

Thank you. Not my best work, but it wasn’t supposed to be. It was meant to be a joking cameo. Did you enjoy the award show? Also, I don’t think that we’ve met, I’m Thane, what’s your name?
Woah, I would be lying if I said I wasn’t starstruck right now. There’s no need to introduce yourself, I love the work you do. I loved the diversity of the nominations at the show tonight.
I’m Kelsea, it’s a pleasure!
Callie and Kelsea
callielowell:
Perfect! I’m not too far a drive from your work, and worse comes to worse I could always meet you at a cafe somewhere nearby. I’ve PM’d you my address, please take your time though. Whenever it’s convenient for you!! Lord knows I won’t learn Italian in a day.
Well, Miss Callie, I look forward to the day.
thane-watson:
I don’t know what you thought about my part in the Golden Globes, but this was a little nerve wrecking to do. I don’t know why, I’ve sang in front of people tons of times, and on film, but still… terrifying.
I thought you were splendid! Bravo!
connor--byrne:
Not so much with the languages, but that’s some intense shit right there. Holy crap. Have you actually read all of that?
I’ve touched a good portion of these books, but I won’t lie-- some of them are unread or just there for show.
lucas-peterson:
That sounds like a boring existence.Â
I beg to differ... But I can see why an individual like yourself would find it hard to see the value in education.
lachlanclarke:
So, you’re a big fan of young adult fiction? I’m actually already fluent in Latin and Italian, just part of my studies back in school. Are languages a hobby of yours?
Yes! I have a boundless love for language. I’m glad that I can finally turn my hobby into a career--I’m the new department head of language at Olympic Heights highschool.
daisy-yorke:
That sounds kind of fun, actually. Maybe no Latin for me though. Not that I underestimate at all how important Latin is in the grand scheme of scholarly things but if I’m going to learn another language, I’d like to be able to speak it in casual conversation with someone.Â
Well, in that case, I do have a few books on Spanish that I’d be happy to part with, as well as a few on Chinese... I’m already fluent in Spanish, but I could never bring myself to pick up Chinese. The writing is much too intricate for me to study as of right now.
thegirlnamedgia:
It looks fantastic. There’s really nothing more satisfying than organizing something that previously was –  … Well, for lack of better word, an absolute wreck. Organizing my closet, when I can find the time, is fantastic.
Thank you! I spent all weekend putting everything in it’s place. I feel the same about organizing my closet, too! I go so far as to fold every t-shirt again, even if it looks passable.
zephyr-dresden:
That’s definitely quite the collection! I don’t think I have the time to get a language learned so I can’t take anything off of your hands, but maybe the library would take them in as donation?
That’s a good back-up plan, thank you!  That slipped my mind. Perhaps I’ll donate the leftovers to the Olympic Heights student resource center, or the public library. I like to travel, so I try to pick up a book or two from each country I visit... as you can see, I have a tendency to go overboard.
callielowell:
You know, I would love to learn Italian! Feel free to shoot any literature my way.
Sounds like a plan! I work over at Olympic Heights on the weekdays, but I can drop off some light reading sometime in the afternoon for you, if that works! Just PM me your address and I’ll do my best to get something to you.
