...because they make me go feral. Basically. Also very much happening within The Squid System, Young-il loves Gihun, but Frontman loves Ri-jin, his officer.
Two different people. Two different love interests. But Frontman and Young-il share the same body due to their disorder.
— Masked Officer always calls Frontman "Captain", this started out as an insult because The Masked Officer is north korean and in North Korea, a Captain often ends up taking bribe money, earning their position through bribes and right people, so it was a way to say he didn't earn his position, but the more time he'd spend with Frontman, the more he calls him Captain out of respect.
— When No-eul found out about Frontman's and Masked Officer's relationship, she used blackmail, saying that she was gonna rattle about it to Il-Nam and get them in trouble if The Masked Officer won't do whatever she says. This is how she gets free drinks and free money for about a month, until Masked Officer caves, says "Fuck it." and No-eul gets put in solitary confinement for a week. She doesn't say a word about it, though. ...Frontman knew she wouldn't, it's all a game she's playing around, but Ri-jin didn't have it anymore.
— Frontman has very female rage, he can be seething angry but dead quiet about it, while Ri-jin has very male rage, loud when he's angry. (Young-il has 1950's housewife with too many chores left to do rage. He'd argue somtimes like "No, Frontman. Don't front to help me. Just watch me kill myself over here. Ya'll would be dead without me. I do everything around here.")
— Instant turn on for Frontman about The Masked Officer is his prowling...whenever he walks around, even better if he's pacing around his private quarters, with shoulders hunched, ready to strike. He has a prowling look, Frontman wants to ride him like the horses Gihun used to bet on.
— Instant turn on for Masked Officer about Frontman is whenever he tells him something awful that happened to him in North Korea...like waterboarding, starvation, killing...then Frontman clenches his jaw to the point he can watch him work his jaw...does something to him. Its a look of anger Frontman would have, angry that something like this would've happened to him...really gets Masked Officer feeling good.
— Masked Officer has a tattoo right on the nape of his neck, with the letters DPRK (Democratic People's Republic of Korea, military code for North Korea) He didn't really chose it, not more than you'd choose a splinter, it was mandatory by the regime, but after Frontman sees it on him, he wants to tattoo himself with ROK (Republic of Korea, military code for South Korea) to match his officer...Young-il threatens he'll genuinely start hurting the body if Frontman puts that on him forever so Frontman doesn't...but he sure wants a tattoo with ROK on him.
— Frontman and Masked Officer go at least once on a date near the North Korean border. Sometimes Ri-jin likes hanging around there, watching from a distance. Very "I let him show me his world." moment for Frontman...but I also headcanon this is how they'd first meet No-eul. Inspired by this. (Tiktok link)
— Unlike The Masked Officer, I headcanon that No-eul escapes North Korea straight through the border to South Korea...which no sane person would usually do. Even The Masked Officer escapes through China like a normal defector. But No-eul straight up jumps to the Southern side, she gets 3 to 5 bullets through her, but makes it on the other side...she only survives because she gets spotted by Frontman and Masked Officer, they basically save her life.
— I like thinking that when Frontman would hear shots fired, and they'd sit close to the border, his immediate thought would be that they're shooting at The Masked Officer, not at No-eul, so he jumps over him to shield his body...even though they're on the Southern side...this is one of those moments when Masked Officer would realize someone genuinely cares wheter he lives or dies.
— Sometimes Masked Officer prefers staying on the island because most of South Korea never sleeps, its full of colored lights and buzz that won't let him rest...he doesn't really get used to it even after years spent in South, so he'd prefer the quiet island of death games sometimes.
