I guess Komi-ko looked pretty and never did anything particularly objectionable that I can remember. That counts, right? Right?? ... I wasnāt fond of the echidnas at all...

Itās Clip Studio Pro (or Manga Studio, same program).
The program recently updated and thereās this huge database of awesome materials made by other users! Most of it appears to be free. Most of it is also not in English so it can be hard to understand, and the translation tool is... a bit babelfishy.
This is the easiest way to find the material I was demoing in the original post :)
So like... You know... Your friend who is constantly crying for money and pity ... If they want it they really need to work for money . They just complain and honestly every time I see there posts they are just wanting hand outs. Tell them to stop. They've already scammed enough money for people that made no difference in their situation and they still expect some money angel to give them what they need.

I understand your concern about this kind of thing. There unfortunately are way too many people out there who take advantage of the generosity of others, here on tumblr and elsewhere. Iāve even seen pretty bad cases of it with people who have taken thousands from people when they donāt need it. Itās an awful thing, and I wouldnāt reblog something if I thought it was somehow a scam.
When I say that Xeric is a friend of mine, Iām not saying that heās a mutual follower or something, Iām saying that heās a friend of mine that Iāve known quite awhile. I think itās been about... at least eight years? Weāre notĀ ātalk every dayā type friends but I trust in his character, and I have no reason to believe this is a scam. I also believe him when he says that heās been trying to get work (I also believe at one point he had been doing pixel/sprite commissions).
I understand that these kind of posts can come off as begging, or asking someone else to make problems go away. I understand it can be really tiring seeing these kind of things on your dashboard, too. Sometimes these posts can even be scams. But in this case I honestly believe my friend is in need of help. Iām not trying to strong arm anyone into donating to him, either. If someone is in a position where they can help, it would be appreciated. If you canāt, you canāt.
I hope you can understand where Iām coming from with this?

To be honest this scene always makes me giggle. Itās like heās supposed to be intimidating but heās floating upside down with lightning going into his groin.

Just imagining one Echidna not only surviving some kind of mass extinction like thatā but from the foliage, itād hafta be really long ago, and thereās no way it would just be him out hereā biology dictatesā-"
He rambled along in the background, clinging to the safe, familiar confines of Science while only a few paces away from something that defied and circumvented most textbook physics laws. It was easy to ignore the way Finitevus flaunted the perversion of the laws of nature itself ā Magic! ā and pretend that it somehow just worked on a subatomic level in that theoretical area he was scooping out a niche in. The Science was familiar and safe and helped him not panic about nowhere to live, nothing to eat, their lives being erased, and all his soft stuffed animals and scrapbooks vanishing from existence.
His family had never existed. All of his school friendsā- Ashi-Le had never existed. And the cute barista that made him free drinks or gave him the food they would have thrown away at the end of the dayā¦ people heād willfully acknowledged had to be dead, once Eggmanās wave went through and Albion was in ruins, but who he still had memory of. And now they existed in a vacuum. Now they were impossible people, with no parents or lineage to speak of. They appeared out of nowhere, with no ties, nothing to own in this world, or ownership from this world to themā¦ They were no-oneās anythingā¦ His only identity now, outside of apparently one of the last two or three Echidnas alive, was as Finitevusās assistant. It was meaningless to call himself a āHayekā. Hayeks had never existed here. āMaleā didnāt mean anything when the only representatives of their race were male, so there didnāt need to be that particular distinction. His sexual identity didnāt factor in either, now. Heād renounced āAlbioniteā when heād willingly joined Finitevusās crusade. He was nothing now, he was a worm, he was a cast-away from a world that didnāt want him and had no place for him. His only agency was elimination, notā- not recovery, if he had any agency at all. He was worthless here.
Egon wondered if this was the kind of epiphany his employer had that led him to his mission. He didnāt like it at all.
The gentle inquiry shook him from his depressing and existentialist musings. The doctor was being so kind and good to him again. āIād love to take a walk. Iād love to get moving again, yes.ā Putting some distance between them and this barren wasteland of where their home SHOULD be would probably be for the best. It wasnāt helping his current mental state at all.
Finitevus stepped through the ring, onto the smooth, polished gem flooring, offering a hand to Egon to help him through as well. He was a smaller echidna, after all.
And clumsy.
And many other things he could think of, but Finitevus's mind was on other things.
"This should be, if I'm correct, the Hidden Palace. A remote, ancient location on Angel Island. In... 'our' version of the world, this is where the echidnas hid during the dingo invasion of Echidnapolis."
It was impressive. The heat here was lower, and the farther one traveled into the ruins the lower the temperatures fell.
The walls themselves were made from glittering crystal formations, pillars and other signs of life carved into and from them. The sound of Finitevus's voice echoed slightly down the ancient halls.
The Return
"I would guess that the echidna civilization never progressed to the levels it did in our z- ā¦ the original incarnation of our zone. Iāve seen it several times myself in my studies, where the echidna race is an early one that dies off under mysterious circumstances."
He adjusted his glasses, standing back from the ring.
"ā¦ usually due to angry gods, or gigantic Eldritch tentacles coming from the sky. ā¦ that sort of thing."
"Oh." Egon glanced up worriedly, in fear of an unlikely aforementioned death tentacle somehow lingering long enough to wipe out traces of them. "That canāt really be real, can it? If something gets that big, itād be too heavy to movā- well, I guess the āEldritchā part asks us to ignore the physicsā- but, but really! Itād have to be all pocket dimensions andā"
No, he wasnāt giving the fanatical hoo-ha of dead cultures any degree of credulity. Even if the very idea of a sky tentacle just lazily reaching down and wiping out an entire species in a flick of its tip was enough to make him squirm. The over-powered individuals Finitevus tended to deal with usually did have that little regard for their own power or the lives of others.
"Sorry about that." The shorter gave a little shrug, cheeks pink. "I got a little over-excited, I guess. If our whole species is gone, and thatās what did it, then we donāt have to worry about the Guardian or anything." Something good out of all of this! Jealousy finally alleviated! "That should mean the Emerald and the islandās resources are free for us tā I mean you to use. Weāve got our pick of ruins, and if theyāre standing for this long, theyāll probably be durable enough to not crush us in our sleep." Unlike tentacles from above.
He smiled apologetically. āI know itās not the fancy living that weāre accustomed to, but weāve been roughing it for the past few months, and Iām sure we can figure out how to get hot bath water and an ice box and chocolate hazelnut toast-spread at some point. My main concern is getting us someplace to sleep and get water, you know, since everything we have is gone.ā If he didnāt make it clear, that kind of bothered him. A lot.
"Just give me something to doā- something to do with my hands, orā or writing something down, and then itāll be like I can do something to fix thisā-" And here came the panic.
Finitevus was oblivious of Egon's upcoming wave of panic, or simply did not care. "Actually, the Guardian likely still exists, despite the absence of most of our species. He is a semi-constant variable in most universes. Not quite as constant as the hedgehog, or Eggman, but quite common."
He rubbed at his chin, pondering. There had to be a Master Emerald of some sort, if the island was being held aloft. And as he just stated, a Guardian.
In curiosity, though with hesitancy, he created a ring.
In one of the last zones he had been to, the Guardian kept the emerald in a place called the "Hidden Place Zone". It was worth taking a glance.
He flinched back and pulled away from the ring as oppressively hot and sulphate-reeking air gushed through. The scent was familiar- lava. Hidden Palace was located near Lava Reef, and the particular overbearing aroma of it's magma was unforgettable. It made the eyes water.
Finitevus cursed himself again for being foolhardy with his rings, as he was lucky that he hadn't accidently opened the ring slightly more downwards, or a coulee would of splashed upon him. And possibly Egon, but that didn't matter as much.
Leaning in as far as he could bear, he took in the sight, then readjusted the ring to a better location- one not hovering inches away from a prodigious source of heat.
Yes, there were the crystalline structures Hidden Palace was known for.
"... well, Egon, would you be up for a bit of a walk?"
