Lesbians have different struggles from other lgbt+ identities, but as cishet people consider them “not normal” they might face hardships based on being lesbian and therefore they deserve a place in the lgbt+ community where they can experience belonging and safety.

Bi people have different struggles from other lgbt+ identities, but as cishet people consider them “not normal” they might face hardships based on being bi and therefore they deserve a place in the lgbt+ community where they can experience belonging and safety.
Trans people have different struggles from other lgbt+ identities, but as cishet people consider them “not normal” they might face hardships based on being trans and therefore they deserve a place in the lgbt+ community where they can experience belonging and safety.

All queer people have their own unique struggles due to not fitting in the “norm” cishet people create. No matter their identity, if someone seeks belonging, safety or support in the lgbt+ community, it is because they can find none outside of it.
The LGBT+ community is a place for everyone who feels like they don’t have a place. This is why we should not gatekeep. Gatekeeping hurts people who have been hurt for the same reason other lgbt+ people have been hurt. For not being cishet.
