I keep forgetting that the way makeup culture is marketed towards teen girls is mainly about making them hate their natural age progressions and to make them look like they are in their mid/early 20s bc its hard to believe that makeup HAS the capability to do that, but then i look at 14/15/16 year old instagram influencers and get an instant whiplash  

Like…these pics were taken when the girl was between the age group of 15-16..there are pictures on her instagram where she is wearing no/minimal makeup and looks perfectly her age and then we have pictures like these where you can clearly see how the makeup is deliberately done to make a person look years more than their age and i have no other thing to say about this except that im quite disappointed at how the whole feminism and women empowerment moment have failed teen girls massively

My heart goes out to every Muslim in New Zealand and anyone that is affected by the horrible news of the mosque shootings in Christchurch. This is an absolutely abhorrent attack against an innocent community. The vitriol that Islamophobia has spewed out has created a hostile and dangerous place for Muslims and that’s terrifying. They don’t deserve to live in fear. The shooter is truly evil. My condolences to everyone who has lost or had a loved one harmed.

I think the important thing for Non-Canadians to know about Trudeau’s SNC Lavalain Scandal

Is that it by itself would not be enough to seriously damage Trudeau’s brand. I know I see some Americans going on that this scandal seems tame by comparison to what Trump is doing.

This ignores context.

The reason this scandal is hitting Trudeau so hard is because it is the final straw for a lot of people (and particularly progressives who voted for him because he campaigned on the left in the 2015 election) who have felt continually betrayed by his government. This government explicitly ran on a campaign in 2015 of avoiding the corruption and cronyism of the previous Conservative government.

This SNC Scandal does not exist in a vacuum, and this is not the only bad thing Trudeau has been doing. Its just that the American media has rarely reported on anything controversial this man has done in power over these past 4 years.

Since 2015, Justin Trudeau has claimed to be a climate leader while approving and buying oil pipelines, he has claimed to be an ally to Indigenous people while suing them in court and steam rolling over their rights with industrial projects, he claimed to want to fix Canada’s electoral system then at the last moment decided partisan politics was more important to him than a major promise he made, he said he would be on the side of Organized Labour and then he legislated Canada Post workers back to work and ignored pensioners who lost everything when Sears folded, He has claimed to be supportive of Human Rights but has defended selling billions of weapons to Saudi Arabia, he said he would be the ‘anti-Harper’ candidate than he maintained the Harper Government’s mandatory minimums, health care transfer cuts and weak climate targets.

And now with this SNC scandal it throws his entire 2015 election pitch that he would run an open, democratic government that would avoid corruption and the influence of giant corporation’s ability to lobby government’s, as has plagued both the Liberal and Conservative governments over the past couple of decades.

People really need to see the big picture here. This scandal paints Trudeau as no better than Harper or Chretien when it comes to appeasing corporations and the 1% over working people, and when compacted with his other questionable decisions over these 4 years invalidates his entire reason he ran for office in 2015. He has become the cynical politician who he campaigned against.
