Oh hey it's bi visibility week. Time for the p/nsexuals that constantly insist they aren't bi to take up space for "bi+" week!
fucking forehead to forehead is so intimate like pls... be careful........ our souls are gonna get intertwined........
assuming bi youth only experience marginalization and oppression when theyâre in same gender relationships makes as much sense as assuming that gay people only experience marginalization and oppression when theyâre in a relationship
it doesnât
exactly.
sexuality isnt a choice. relationships are. you canât just opt in and out of oppression. if that were true bi people would only date the opposite gender.
this not even getting into the ridiculousness when it comes to nb people therefore not having a same/opposite gender to date anyway
The way this app is so intimate but so isolating the only thing i can compare it to is like weâre all in a museum at the same time. Or eating in our cars in a mcdonalds parking lot
Aside from it being complete appropriation of terms used by and for POC, black people specifically actually, there is absolutely no way âpassing privilegeâ can apply to LGBT theory and politics or anywhere outside of critical race theory. The only issue isnât that youâre âstealing terms from POCâ, though it is part of it- the bigger issue is that it does NOT apply in the same way.
Being LGBT implies and influences nothing about your class, your culture, the color of your skin, your wealth, ethnicity, the environment you grew up in, etc. Race and ethnicity will (generally, but obviously with exceptions) dictate the culture you grew up in, your class, the struggles you and your family faced growing up, etc. So will the color of your skin. Generational trauma or lack thereof has a big influence on your life as a person of color. Being LGBT does not come with generational trauma and there are too many other factors are play for anyone to make broad assumptions about your privilege.
You cannot say that a poor bisexual woman of color has privilege over an upper-middle-class white gay man because she âhas the option to pass.â In fact, that poor bisexual woc will have far more in common with a poor lesbian of color than with a rich white bisexual woman. Divisions of privilege based on sexual identity, whether youâre out of the closet or not, whether youâre open about being LGBT, whether youâre in an m/f or an f/f or an m/m or an nb/m or what fucking have you relationship, when we ALL EXPERIENCE SGA, make no sense.
Aside from that, itâs not a privilege to hide your identity, and if that were the case no LGBT person would ever come out. You are instead trading one equally shitty experience for another. There is no real ânet benefitâ and there certainly is no âprivilegeâ involved there.
People hate bisexuals so much theyâll appropriate terms created by and for POC for arguments that donât even hold any water anyway.
chris is literally nonbinary
ppl really do just say "cisgender" for anyone who isnt "trans enough" huh
