Despite how much of a stirr it caused, The Timeless Child makes a degree of sense.
Because Timelord society has ALWAYS been rotten, despite 10's choice to remember them as this wise and benevolent, majestic race.
The Timelord aren't really any different to the other species in the Universe once you get the chance to peak behind the curtains.
They're still prone to corruption, arrogance and all the other problems advanced societies tend to have.
Which means they're also quite prone to the whole "History is written by the victor" thing, which in their case maybe literal at times.
Like Rassilon who was thought of as a great and wise founder. Only for it to be revealed he's a ruthless, backstabbing, omnicidal bastard who's potentially responsible for Omega's situation.
The Trial of The Doctor Serial shows their corruption quite well: the High Council essentially make a bargain with The Valeyard to arrange a kangaroo court so they could give The Valeyard The Doctor's regenerations.
Which, would also allow them to remove someone they consider to be an embaressment and a nuisance to them and who'd uncovered their misdoings.
So, it would make sense that the official story of how they obtained Regeneration, would be completely different from the actual truth and no one except for a small handful of individuals being any wiser as to this being the case.
My one problem with it though, is the fact it was The Doctor that's revealed to be The Timeless Child.
Not because it goes against all pre-established canon (it actually doesn't go against it necessarily, see Brain of Morbius).
But because it makes The Doctor special in a way they don't need to be.
So, over the years, what's basically been established about The Doctor is that by Timelord Society standards.
They're a bloody loser: they seemingly grew up in the country, did poorly in school (hence why they can't control what they Regenerate into.) and seems to have failed to meet the standards of at least one parent.
Then, one day they steal an outdated museum piece and disappear with their granddaughter, implying that Susan was either the only family member The Doctor had left.
Or that she was the only one they were still on good terms with.
And that could be for any reason, 1 was kind of a grouchy old dickhead with zero interest in getting involved in things when the show starts.
So, it could be any reason why he just took Susan with him.
But my point is: he's not The Oncoming Storm at this point, he's not that nameless, terrible thing that falls from the sky and heralds destruction and death in their wake.
He's not the maintenance man of the universe.
He's just a grumpy old man who ran away from home and fled to what amounts to a backwater planet with his granddaughter because he didn't like the way things were there. He had no intention of getting involved in things.
And there's this line he says in his first story to the cavemen he's surrounded by that embodies this and is probably the most ironic line in the entire history of Doctor Who:
"Look at me, I'm a harmless old man! How can a harmless old man, like me, harm any of you?!"
The Doctor wasn't special because of the circumstances of their birth or what have you.
The Doctor was special because they were essentially the embodiment of the trope From Nobody to Nightmare.
They never needed to be made into the source of Regeneration or the reincarnation of one of the Founders.
They were special because they weren't of exceptional circumstances like that and yet still went on to be one of the most influential forces in the universe if not the most influential.
Because they were literally just a madwo/man with a box.
EDIT: also, this ocurred to me a day or two after posting this.
But it very much makes The Doctor a lot like his earlier companions as well as Martha, Bill Potts, Yas, Ryan, Graham, Dan and Belinda.
Because literally there was nothing special about these people. They just so happened to cross paths with The Doctor one day and get dragged into some adventures in time and space.
And along the way, they became special.
Davros is right. The Doctor does make people into weapons.
But they also makes them into heroes.
Just like how, through sheer coincidence, a grumpy old man just so happened to steal an outdated TARDIS model who then proceeded to drag him around the cosmos on adventures thorugh time and space.
And in the process, made him into a hero.
