sharing my favorite Miranda ships (all hypothetical, but I just love the idea of them): Miranda/Shepard, Miranda/Samara (I've been shipping this for YEARS), Miranda/Liara. For some reason I'm also super intrigued by Miranda/Kelly (because that woman is so smart and insightful, traits Miranda very much appreciates) and although it's unlikely to happen, Miranda/Aria sounds so exciting?

I rarely ever watch movies, so I'm going to comment on the last show I watched: Firefly! I loved it so far. Haven't finished it yet, but I will. It's giving me lowkey Mass Effect vibes. (And Inara makes me melt.)

Regarding RP, just to start writing. Don't think, just write. Switch to another draft if things aren't working. It works for me.

😈Worst thing you’ve ever done to your muse? 

I have never roleplayed Miranda as much as I wanted (so, not much more than what you're seeing on this blog), so I haven't gotten to the point where I've ever written her tangled up in some serious mess.

I'm also not a fan of making my muses suffer too much, honestly. The worst thing I've done to Miranda is not to have written a bloody awesome post-ME3 life for her yet. I really just want Miri to be happy.

"I'm not tense. This is perhaps the first time I have been accused of that in years. What makes you say that?"

Although it was a standard question, Miranda hadn't seen it coming. Ever since she'd joined Cerberus, she hadn't been asked about siblings anymore. Family, yes. A partner. But not siblings specifically. With the way she was, most people hardly bothered asking her many personal questions.

Of course she had siblings. A sister. Oriana. The light of her life. Her whole heart. A secret she would rather take to her grave than to share in a reckless galaxy such as this.

Not content lying, Miranda strategically deflected the question. "If you're asking about my upbringing, I grew up with no one but my father. We haven't spoken since I left."

How simple this sounded. As if her father wasn't an absolute monster. As if she hadn't given up her sister and given her to another family so she could have a happy life, because she could never be safe with Miranda. It was close enough to the truth. She wasn't lying about having had a perfect childhood, nor was she claiming not to have Oriana. Rather, she was making it likely for her companion to believe she had no siblings, which was for the best.

Garrus wouldn‘t be the first to think the Cerberus officer has a patronizing air around her. It is one of her many.. idiosyncratic qualities. Miranda isn’t known to be a friendly or warm person. Those qualities weren‘t something she‘d been exposed to much with the way she was brought up, and she never had to develop them. Quite the opposite. Distance, as well as a certain pragmatism, had always gotten her further ahead in life than anything else.

His answer (even though he sounded irritated for some reason Miranda couldn‘t, nor didn‘t care to deduce) doesn‘t displease Miranda. Garrus is among the squadmates she was least concerned about. Everything she‘d studied in his psych profile indicated that he is loyal as he is good at following orders.

And now, he has confirmed that he was loyal to Shepard, through and through, whether she was allied with Cerberus or not. As long as Miranda would manage to gain Shepard‘s trust, Garrus‘ loyalties shouldn‘t be of any concern. Only, getting the Commander to trust her would be challenging, to say the least.

"Fair enough“, Miranda responds, lips curving into a faint, polite smile, something she‘d learned to put on when it could prove useful. "I understand your concern. Cerberus is hardly like the Alliance. We can be ruthless, if necessary.“ She admits. “In addition, our organization is often depicted as being human supremacist. Too many join us out of simple xenophobia.“ Miranda points out, having a feeling that perhaps its anti-alien reputation was a major, if not the main reason for Garrus‘ mistrust.

"But this is not what Cerberus stands for.“ She assures, placing a hand on a slender hip. If he is as stubborn as the Commander was, easing his concerns isn‘t going to be easy, but Miranda thinks she should let him know what she believes in. She is willing to elaborate, as long as Garrus is willing to listen.

🙶Really?🙷 Garrus asks, drawing the word out in sarcasm. 🙶You could’ve fooled me... But perhaps you’re right. You’ve never seemed too friendly towards your own people, either.🙷 Logically, he knows he’s equating the woman in front of him with the whole organisation in a way that isn’t necessarily even remotely true. Logically, he knows she’s her own person, and doesn’t necessarily stand for everything Cerberus has done. But he’s so damn tired, so jaded, with the state of the galaxy. He’s just been betrayed by a member of his own team. He can’t be bothered to give a Cerberus operative the benefit of the doubt... even if he probably should ― he trusts Shepard, and Shepard... trusts Miranda enough to let her be her XO, even if Cerberus isn’t to be trusted.

He should stop antagonising her so openly, he knows this. He should... rest, perhaps, but that’s not going to happen. Look through the calibrations of the main guns... yes, he should do that. But he’s also curious; he wants to know how Miranda justifies herself.

Miranda didn't falter, her expression remaining a stony mask. This wasn't the first time someone had confronted her so directly; no, the woman was used to harsh accusations, unfiltered words. To much worse, in fact. (Well, not anymore. She had made sure of that, when she had escaped her father's control. But the way he had treated her had left a grip on her she got so accustomed to, that she often failed to realize she was still in it. But most of all, she would never admit to it. Fact was, she was a hardened woman.)

She merely had to hide a flicker of annoyance that threatened to cross her features -- though, admittedly, the turian was on thin ice now with his sniding sarcasm. He was quick-witted, exactly as his psych profile had claimed, and Miranda got to see it first-hand. For as useful of a character trait this was, it often clashed with individuals who possessed just as sharp of a tongue.. like Miranda.

Only she held that tongue. For now. He was Shepard's most trusted ally aboard, and while Miranda could be brazen, she was just as rational. There was value in being on someone's good side.

"Cerberus operates in many cells", Miranda calmly explained, perhaps with a bit of her impatience bleeding through her voice. She went on, taking a more measured tone, "They operate individually to avoid compromises.. It's an efficient system, but admittedly, it has weaknesses. A cell could go rogue, while the other cells and The Illusive Man remain unaware until it's too late." Feigning some humility. "That is precisely what has happened with these cells. These experiments you spoke of have never been part of The Illusive Man's plans."

Of course, Garrus might be wondering why Cerberus couldn't hire trustworthy individuals who followed the rules, but Miranda already had an argument against that.

"Just like Saren going rogue has never been a part of the Council's plans." Miranda remarked, fully aware that Garrus looked up to the Spectres.

"I could tell you about the humans whose lives have been saved because of Cerberus, though that would require your willingness to listen." Turians were hard to read, but Miranda knew this one was stubborn, and she had the feeling he was here because of some personal issue, something she had no patience for. "Though, looking at your condition, some rest might not be a bad idea."

I believe Miranda has an obsession with being control stemming from a childhood of being at a total loss of control and having to do anything a narcissistic man told her to do down to the finest detail, so a loss of control is a trigger to Miranda. Being stuck in a situation with no way out and worse, being made a fool of is hell to Miranda. To anyone, but most of all to someone who has been through what she has.

I answered this here. Miranda mainly keeps people at a great distance, avoids showing her emotions to avoid embarrassment and humiliation, and buries herself in work to feel as if she is useful.
