        The reply was typed out and shown to him before she continued, pausing to put her phone down and hang her ‘head’, inhaling and lifting it to look at him before removing it and allowing her smoky neck to be revealed as she spoke.

       “I’m not a leader, so excuse me for not sounding enthusiastic about asking why.” her voice was quiet but regardless the grip on her phone tightened, “I do apologize for giving you a hard time, sir.” He’s trying his best, everyone is.

         --- Of course.  After all, The Guild needed him.  And he let it fall to pieces...  They were relying on him, as their leader.  And yet-

            He was frustrated, to say the least.  Not with Irving -- but with himself.  His arrogance and rushing into things with so much over-confidence had lead to his downfall and ultimately cost him everything.  Every dime, every penny... even the guild.  Steinbeck hated him, and now he felt he was losing Washington... 

               And here he thought he couldn’t lose anything else after his daughter’s death.  How wrong he was.  How did he fix this?  He couldn’t ask that... he looked bad enough as it were. 

   But the furrow in his brow fades, that million dollar smile making its way back onto his features -- despite how forced it was -- to try and regain some form of respect for himself.  To stop feeling like a kicked dog. 

              “Actually! There is... Washington, old friend! I have a proposal for you.” doubt lingers in the back of his mind, but he does his best to bury it deep. 

                   “...I want to invite you back to The Guild.”
