do you have any interpretation of what headless ichtys could be about? i love that abno but i genuinely struggle to understand if it's supposed to have a theme of any kind

ichthys is a weird one because, no joke, the closest thing we have to go off of is christianity

an ichthys is an old-ass christian symbol theorized to have been used as a shibboleth to determine if someone else was a christian during times of persecution. in theory you could connect this to fluid sac being given to don and faust (a bloodfiend and the runt/weakest link of the fausts respectively) but it feels like a reach.

i think ichy is meant to more be an abnormality that just kind of is what it is + the significance is spelled out for you like ppodae and firebird are but if you put a gun to my head and told me to think of a deep symbolic reason to give someone fluid sac i would give it the meaning of managing to persevere despite constant adversity. despite being literally beheaded (breaking the ichthys, prevention from identification with kin) and bleeding constantly and disgorging its own blood it's instead moved its brain and vitals elsewhere and lives in spite of itself. you can break a person but the idea will bring them back so to speak. it even manages to have a bit of #whimsy and #fun despite it being the way it is
